Great turn out for our litter pick today. The Ash Path & car park are a lot tidier now.

Even on a wet morning there are bumblebees enjoying our patch at Dinas Powys station. Thanks to John who looks after this for us.

The Common. Flowers and grasses left to grow long on the meadow area, giving nature space to do what it does best.

Lots of people in Dinas pick up litter. If you want to get involved pop along to the Library Plant sale and Fun Day to chat with Elin from Keep Wales Tidy. Either borrow kit from the new Hub at the Library or become a champion and be given kit. Pop along to chat over options.

Also our friends at GPG in Penarth are holding this event on Monday evening and we’ll be there.

Bird walk this Sunday 4pm, meet Murchfield Community Centre

Meet at Millbrook Road entrance to Dinas Powys woods 10-12noon. 2-3 miles including a steep climb.

It’s our annual Spring Flower walk tomorrow and looks like a lovely day for it. All details in image.

We have sown our pollinator friendly mix at Brookside. Many thanks to Barry, Helen, Hilary and Clare for their hard work. We were hoping it was just going to be a matter of sprinkling seeds but there were quite a lot of weeds to remove first.

Known heronries in Eastern Glamorgan: Coryton wood, Mydnydd Gelliwion near Trehafod, Darran near Merthyr Vale, Merthyr Mawr Sawmill, Ogmore Vale

Grey Herons are in decline. It’s important we know where they breed.

We know of only 5 heronries in our region. Are there others out there we don’t know about?

This spring, when you’re out birding, please keep an eye out for heronries and message us if you find one. Thanks 🙏
