This also aims to remove "accident" from statute language and replace it with "crash"
I just learned something that blew my mind. In Colorado there is no state level code that deems parking in a bike lane illegal! City's have passed their own ordinances but it is wild this is not state wide. An upcoming bill aims to change this leg.colorado.gov/bills/HB26-1...
Advocates in Denver staged a die in today to remember and honor the 93 traffic violence victims from last year
βThe traffic volumes are definitely the first consideration, and even if there's a lot of crashes at an intersection, there has to be enough traffic at the intersection still to warrant the signal.β

The US has extremely low fuel taxes compared to other countries
The federal gas tax hasn't been raised by 1993
People justify not investing in biking and walking infrastructure because the US is a "users-pay" transportation system
When we've already been subsidizing drivers for decades

Sorry, Kallisto. Two Ls.
If I didn't make this clear, you should go there and try it.
I just found a new to me spot right along the 15th Street bike lane. Kalisto. I had an awesome chicken shawarma wrap and the employee gave us some free baklava for being "neighbors". It was delicious.
Businesses along bike lanes are great.
Americans are addicted to cars, but in many ways it's a forced addiction. Decades of policy have made cars the dominant mode of travel at the expense of others, and marketing reinforces the car as the "best" choice. This isn't to excuse individual choices, but car dependency is a systemic issue.
Seriously, can anyone think of a product category where such a high percentage of options sold are so poorly designed to do their primary job as bike racks? Can you imagine if 40% of corkscrews couldn't really open a bottle of wine? Or water fountains where it's basically impossible to get a drink?
Hello historian of #bicycling here; if anyone wants to hear about what happened in WWII and also during the 1970s energy crisis (when Americans turned to bicycles as alternative transportation solutions) I'm certainly available. I've written about both in _Bike Battles_.

βAccording to the study, this intervention would prevent on average 2.6 deaths, 117 injury crashes and 335 property damage crashes every five years. In other words, not doing this will cost lives and money.β
Take a guess if DOTI did itβ¦

I hear theyβre calling it the βDepartment of War Crimesβ now.
Challenging news organizations to not do 5,000 gas price stories and especially with zoomed camera shots of the pump's LCD screen chugging away.
The social media platform wars are uniquely weird for people who prefer to live our lives outside of cars, because no matter where we turn, everyone thinks they have the legal right to kill us, and remind us of this constantly.
This one resonates with me the most. Especially after some of my politicians wring their hands everytime someone claims they weren't consulted.
The quickest way to getting nothing done is to allow goal post moving and consensus chasing.
This is beyond problematic.

I love it when there is stuff making it clear to drivers where the parking is not
I've heard the line about the driver "moving into the bike lane to control the intersection" and this is such car-brained bullshit. Bike lanes should never be merge zones and the justification that they are making everyone safer by obstructing them is painfully stupid and outdated.
Stuff like this is infuriating. The Encinitas Mayor just spouting nonsense as justification would send me over the top.
Right hooks are not when cyclists plow into drivers it's when a driver cuts across a lane and doesn't yield. They are ripping out a bike lane. A very nice looking lane. Madness.

This is true. Except in Denver right now where it apparently doesn't snow in winter anymore. This year is so weird.
I like "Don't be MAGA". It should apply to everyone even if not traveling to Canada π
The words you're looking for are "infection vector"
They don't get to turn in front of a cyclist even if they "had they turn blinkers on". Drivers license retests for anyone who posts this kind of bad take.
