Europe prepares for higher energy prices after US attack on Iran
The EU has reached a "panic moment" as not all member states have sufficient energy reserves...a leading energy analyst says the EU is likely to increase energy imports from Russia.

I grew up in Oregon. This plan to clear cut Oregon's old growth forests is terrible in multiple ways. This article gives info on the situation and also where/how you can submit a comment to the BLM. Comment period closes March 23.

Like if you are too young to remember, in the lead up to the Iraq War the Bush admin pursued a months-long media strategy to convince the public of the need for military action.
They lied and were wrong a lot (which was a major scandal) but they tried to build domestic and international support.
In case youβre wondering, the guy who is somehow president of the United States ignored questions about an apparently illegal war and dead US troops and instead made a statement about statues that itβs too dark to even see on video.

I really canβt emphasize enough how much rules matter in a democracy. Accountability to the public is the foundational principle of our system.
Even when previous admins did shady shit they understood this. GW Bush sold the Iraq War to Congress, the UN and the US public for months before going in.
There was a psyop by the pork industry that made people believe bacon was βepicβ so they were putting it in their fucking toothpaste and shit.

What strikes me about the US war against Iran is thereβs been no attempt at all to sell its necessity to the public. Trump barely mentioned Iran during the State of the Union last week.
All the debates on whether to strike were held in secret ala the Kremlin. Itβs authoritarian dictator stuff.
the plan, such as it is, appears to be βbomb a country of 90 million people that is already facing a water crisis into a failed state, walk away and declare victoryβ
this is a monstrous nightmare regardless of whether or not it βworksβ
We need to recognize how unconstitutional Trumpβs actions are.
With birthright citizenship, he tried to unilaterally reverse a constitutional amendment. Now heβs engaged us in a war without Congress.
He ignores the rules because to follow them, heβd have to sell his unpopular agenda to the public.
A lot of people seem stunned that Trump has never faced real consequences, but to be honest America has always had trouble holding leaders to account.
People point to Nixon, but we never tried Jefferson Davis for treason and let him work for an insurance agency. Robert E. Lee got to run a college.
TAMPA, Fla. β As of 9:30 am ET, March 1, three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions β and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing. The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information, including the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

Inspiring words from my Senator.
Shows how important it is to have a wealth of intel experience and the importance of a long-term foreign policy experience in Congress.
Try being one while living abroad.

He likes cash in brown envelopes and being on TV as Mr Big Important Guy. Heβs just willing to pull any lever he thinks might keep that stuff flowing indefinitely.

So the βplanβ for after the fall of the Iranian regime, based on Trumpβs latest statement, is literally that the IRGC does a heel-face turn, joins the opposition movement theyβve been killing, and the US bombing continues until thereβs peace in the Middle East?
Do I have that right?
You can just say things.

The timing of the initial strikes is unusual.
Often you see these types of operations launched in the pre-dawn hours at the target site partly to limit civilian casualties.
This operation began at the beginning of a work and school day, with millions of adult civilians and children in harms way.
Christ. We have begun βmajor combat operations in Iranβ as of just minutes ago. Heβs saying there will be American casualties. Slurring his words.
