I really can’t emphasize enough how much rules matter in a democracy. Accountability to the public is the foundational principle of our system.

Even when previous admins did shady shit they understood this. GW Bush sold the Iraq War to Congress, the UN and the US public for months before going in.

What strikes me about the US war against Iran is there’s been no attempt at all to sell its necessity to the public. Trump barely mentioned Iran during the State of the Union last week.
