I’m like 99% sure marketers created the term EDC to sell men personal accessories without having to call them “accessories.”

It’s okay men, you can just buy nice things for yourself without creating a new term or spinning a fantasy about how you might urgently need a screwdriver while riding BART.

He also gave a good review to Indy 4, talking about the warehouse scene where they’re chasing the buckshot pellets to the magnetic sarcophagus with the comment, “Does it make sense? No, but I love this stuff.”

Y’all are overthinking this with the translations, he just wanted me to sit and narrate each page of the instructions as the tank goes together.

“Will you paint it so it looks like that one in the picture?”

The Green Berets are only in Vietnam as advisors to train civilian militias and assist the ARVN with intelligence gathering on the Viet Minh, this does not suggest a major troop deployment in the future.”

“Some of the frivolous Sept. purchases…include a $98,329 Steinway… grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home, $5.3 million for Apple devices such as the new iPad, and an astronomical amount of shellfish, including $2 million for Alaskan king crab and $6.9 million worth of lobster tail.”

Millennials are simultaneously extremely profligate with their coffee spending but also so thrifty they’re killing the paper napkin and wedding china industries.

Yeah that’s good. I read a BBC article this afternoon that made clear the main station building is ok.

FWIW I was hearing this thing about Millennials spending too much on avocado toast for years before I encountered it on a real-life menu.

Actually it convinced me to try making it at home where it’s cheap, delicious and healthy and it’s now a breakfast staple for my kids.

So…thanks, reactionaries?

Wait, are Gen Zers now getting the thing where Boomers say they’re poor because they waste money on avocado toast?

UM EXCUSE ME. Speaking as a Millennial, being financially scapegoated with avocado toast is *our* thing.

You can’t just steal our stereotype the way you took our jeans from the 1990s.

Strongly suspect that as this war and its negative effects escalate, we're gonna see a massive increase in disinfo and unsourced "news" - starting right the hell now.

PLEASE don't share "breaking" news from rando or disreputable accounts who provide no links.

Part of Trump’s mass appeal (and of why he’s so dangerous) is that he really seems to share Joe Barstool’s worldview that there are no complex problems: Everything has a simple brute solution, which previous leaders were somehow too stupid or weak to deploy.

These days I just tell the visiting family that I got beer already then before they arrive I pull out the bottles they left last time and put them in the fridge.

Saves money and time since I don’t have to make a beer run for a bunch of IPAs that taste like sock water.

It’s cool that this generation gets to find out the answer to “what would you have done when we started interning the Japanese?” and “what would you have done when we invaded Vietnam?” and “what would you have done in Watergate?” all at the same time.

The farm is still in the family and has some working elements to it, but every man of my grandfather’s generation moved to the Amarillo area after serving the War and opted to take industrial or service jobs instead of continuing to farm. And there’s a reason they made that choice.

My family farmed in the Texas Panhandle during the Dust Bowl.

They used to have to run inside and seal their windows when they saw the dust storms coming and breathe through wet rags inside. You could get lost from barn to house in a bad one and had to strain sand out of the milk you’d fetched.

It is absolutely insane that the US appears to have targeted desalination plants first – putting them onto the board. Iran seems to have already retaliated against one in Bahrain. This is one of the most obvious ways this could spiral.
