Congress and state legislatures must make this practice illegal. We should not be automatically enrolled in the violation of our privacy by these tech companies. Features like this should only be enabled after clear, informed, fully free consent—not via default settings.

It made me genuinely upset because so many people I know read and liked this book.

I attended a talk by a scientist at a Chinese University and realized that all the background climate data that she used came from the US (CO₂ Keeling Curve, global temperature time series, etc.). Although China funds a lot of research, the destruction of US science will affect science globally.

This is huge for families that need it and it made me extremely angry that no one in the media was interested in discussing how transformative it would be. Missed the point my mom would’ve benefited, but I know what it would mean.

Showed the kids THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN as our Sunday movie (and their first Spielberg flick) and my Tintin-fan daughter went absolutely insane for it. Literally jumping up and down and standing ten inches from the TV stuff.

She was utterly crushed the sequel promised at the end was never made.

I go back to the US twice a year and it’s really striking going from no gambling ads to ALL the gambling ads.

FWIW things have gone this way in the UK too.

I’m proud our show has never taken sponsorships from gambling, and I’ve been really disappointed how many other channels I respect have.

I’m not against gambling. I’ve gambled small amounts in Vegas, Macau and at the HK racecourse—but gambling in your pocket is just something entirely different.
