Crunchyroll awards are popularity contests. I like the animation of solo leveling, but that's all it is a spectacle...the story is your typical power fantasy. Frieren was one of the best animes to come out this decade and deserved better 😭
Replying for the discussion, but yes and no. Anime is no longer something we keep to ourselves. But the stuff that gets really mainstream is specific anime. The apothecary diaries, mayonaka punch, and even to a certain extent, frieren are still niche. You're just not gonna be bullied for it
I recognize not all Adam Sandler movies are good, but so many of them hit that guilty pleasure button for me.

I agree, 0079 and Gunbuster are peak mech animes. But animation budget must've been big. Also I would have loved to see some more of the romance between Suletta and Miorine
This begs the question for gwitch, would fans have been fine with lower quality animation but more story, cuz there are definitely some plotlines that feel rushed but the animation was absolutely on point for all 24
