The speed of the fundraising (two major rounds in under a year) and the backing from GV suggests investors see real traction in the consumer model.

I'll be breaking this down more in my newsletter this Sunday.

Their model: an AI operating system that lawyers use to handle these matters faster and cheaper. They've already expanded to 35 US states since launching there last year, with offices in Austin and New York opening soon.

That's less than a year after their $40M Series A.

The London-founded startup is targeting consumer legal services:

β†’ family law
β†’ landlord/tenant disputes
β†’ employment issues

- Aggressive marketing towards OpenAI.
- The release of Opus 4.6, with a focus on "knowledge work"
- The release of plugins across industries.

I'll be doing some deeper analysis and discussing whether this was an overreaction in my newsletter this Sunday.

My takeaway:

Anthropic have been on fire this week.

06.02.2026 12:59 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The immediate stock market response underscores how easy it is for general-purpose model providers to create domain-specific agents that automate repetitive tasks across industries.

What the plugin actually does:

- Automates contract review
- Non-disclosure agreement triage
- Compliance workflows
- Legal briefings and templated responses

The immediate market reaction:

β†’ RELX (Lexis Nexis parent) dropped 12%
β†’ Thomson Reuters fell nearly 16%
β†’ Bloomberg, Reuters, and Financial Times ran major coverage

There is lots of panic around Anthropic's legal AI plugin.

By Wednesday morning, billions had evaporated from legal tech stocks.

Instead of just giving you the answer, it guides you to think and contribute. It scaffolds the learning, not just the output.

Until then, I think we're asking juniors to self-regulate in an environment that doesn't really incentivize it.

I think AI vendors have a part to play in this.

Imagine logging into your legal AI platform and it knows your seniority level - apprentice vs. partner.

04.02.2026 22:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

My takeaway:

This is all well and good, but like so many lawyers, juniors are also under immense time pressure.

The younger generation will naturally do things as fast as possible. That doesn't always mean checking every source and validating outputs.

04.02.2026 22:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

β†’ AI becomes a tool for challenge, iteration, and validation
β†’ 52% of respondents support verification exercises that require juniors to check AI outputs against authoritative sources
β†’ This reinforces accuracy and professional responsibility

LexisNexis suggests the solution is training new lawyers to use AI as a "thinking partner" rather than a shortcut.

The proposed approach:

Document review. Contract drafting. Error spotting.

These were the essential tasks that exposed junior lawyers to patterns - clause language, negotiation styles, risk triggers.

A new LexisNexis report just dropped on AI and junior lawyer development.

The grunt work that built judgment is disappearing.

Legora are shifting from being a "vendor" to becoming a "brand."

After all, the legal sector already loves its sports sponsoring (looking at you, Hill Dickinson Stadium).

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for whoever announces something similar to this next.

My takeaway:

My dad always says, "if it gets you talking about them, it's clearly good marketing."

And he's right - but there's more to it.

It's about signaling that you're playing a different game than your competitors.

β†’ Decision-maker access: C-suite executives and partners who control six-figure AI budgets are the exact demographic watching F1 and golf
β†’ Stand out boldly: In the bustling legal AI scene, a Premier League or PGA logo on your site makes you instantly memorable.

03.02.2026 13:00 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

β†’ Brand legitimacy: By associating with established sports instantly signals credibility and scale to enterprise buyers who might otherwise hesitate on emerging tech

Sports sponsorship is becoming the go-to play for AI companies.

I find the economics behind this all fascianting.

Why companies are rushing into sports deals:

β†’ ElevenLabs partnered with Audi Revolut F1 team
β†’ Anthropic's Claude just announced a deal with Atlassian Williams as their "official thinking partner"
β†’ Meta AI teams up with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team (including the likes of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli).

Legora just sponsored a PGA golfer.

This is one of many sponsorship deals AI companies have been signing.

We've been seeing this trend accelerate already in F1:

Note: Plugins are still in "Research Preview," and Anthropic explicitly warns against using it for regulated workloads.

I'll be doing a deep dive into this in my newsletter this Sunday.

But this is a step in the right direction. Especially in the recent boom of DIY legal tech tools, it seems likely some firms will adopt this - especially those already holding Claude Enterprise subscriptions.

02.02.2026 13:20 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

My takeaway:

Not all lawyers just do redlining and NDAs! So many legal AI tools focus on these tasks as if that's the entirety of legal work.
