Horrific. Georgia police charged a woman with murder after she allegedly used misoprostol. Hospital may have reported her.

@pregnancyjust.bsky.social calls it “an unprecedented murder charge for an alleged abortion, even though no law in the state of Georgia permits such a charge." bit.ly/46W2Ezb

A white ringer t-shirt with a blue circular logo that says “WE KEEP US SAFE MPLS” and icons for a whistle, a cellphone camera, a grocery bag, and a protest fist in a winter glove, next to a blue t-shirt with white logo, and the words “Honoring Minneapolis resisters, helping school families” between the shirts. A blue circular logo that says “WE KEEP US SAFE MPLS” and icons for a whistle, a cellphone camera, a grocery bag, and a protest fist in a winter glove

I think I have wrestled the WE KEEP US SAFE t-shirt & sticker ordering site to the ground and will uncork it Friday morning. Thanks for your patience everyone.

I just read it with my science-and-space-obsessed fifth grader, and it was *so much fun.*

As a centrist, I think Donald Trump is bad, but the political and economic conditions that enabled him to become president twice are good

Screencapture images of CBC and NYT using a file photo of a body of water that vaguely resembles the left-to-right shape of the Strait of Hormuz, but which is visibly not nearly to scale. This is clearly a river or estuary system (complete with visible floodplains) and not the Strait. It is missing several cities that would be clearly visible at this scale. The photo was also taken from high altitude but clearly not from outer space, making the angle of capture impossible to fit Hormuz into the same frame.

So, I've seen this image come up twice now in news coverage of the Strait of Hormuz.

First it was The New York Times' "The Daily" podcast.

Next, CBC News' generally excellent "About That" webseries.

Folks, this is not the Strait of Hormuz.

I find it baffling how many people online are acting like Israel controls the U.S. It does not.

Ruth Wilson Gilmore said, “No abolitionist who is a true abolitionist wants to save money. What we want is for the money to be spent, to enhance, and support human life so that it can flourish in a way that doesn’t destroy the planet. We’re not about cost-savings.“ Saving lives, not saving money.

"A student protest movement that was brutally suppressed by liberal institutions was proven 'disastrously wrong' by the fact that those institutions were subsequently steamrollered by fascism."

I'm glad that no one was hurt in the synagogue attack (other than the attacker). really upsetting that these incidents seem to be accelerating.

just a variant in the kind of guy with imaginary protestors in his head who are always wrong, unlike the protestors who agree with his politics 100% and only protest the right way and do not exist

We cannot stop mass deportations without seriously reckoning with the American obsession with arrests and prosecutions.

Right now we have HSI vehicles outside of city hall parked in MPD parking spots and electronic media vehicle parking spots. They say it’s for a “criminal investigation” but we’ve all seen the horrors they commit along with collateral kidnappings. 1/

My focus group of angry swing voters made one thing clear: The clock is ticking for Donald Trump to either end the war in Iran or come up with a new batch of anti-trans ads.

To which I'd add that all the pro-Palestine organizers I know are reasonably tied up due to their deep involvement in the work or protecting their neighbors from state violence right now (unlike so many of their liberal critics).

They brutalized, jailed, expelled, and marked protestors do secret police detention but sure it’s because there was a plan to screw Biden.

But regardless! Who fucking cares why people went out to put their marker down that horrors are horrors. What is with people saying shit like this

Really enjoyed this. I already knew how thoughtful and deeply informed @jonathanstegall.bsky.social is, but can report back that @reallandsend.bsky.social really does just open her mouth and speak in complete, theoretically sound units of brilliance like this; there's no editing magic at work.
