Since 2004 the Lothian Birth Cohort 1936 participants have been meeting with the research team every three years for many hours of cognitive testing, medical exams and brain scans. Over 100 participants at age 88 have now returned to the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility for the 7th time!

This year we celebrate two special anniversaries in the history of the Lothian Birth Cohorts studies: the 25th anniversary of the LBC1921 established in 1999 and the 20th anniversary of the LBC1936!
The cohorts' data have contributed to over 700 publications on cognitive, brain and general ageing!
