what i thought was interesting is that a lot of the synths he was using for it were pretty unpopular ones for the time. like stuff people were getting rid of or outright throwing away in the 90's

one of my craziest moments on discord is seeing the hotel mario composer in a vc alone, and joining and talking to him for like almost an hour pretty much completely uninterrupted before he had to go
alongside the obvious, as a synth/retro music production nerd it was a very fun talk. very cool guy
