Cover of The Rise of the Roguelite: Inside a Gaming Phenomenon, edited by James Cartlidge. The top and bottom are red with white and gray text, while the middle features a dark background lined with colorful pixel art icons such as hearts, swords, potions, skulls, coins, and trophies, evoking classic video game aesthetics. The CRC Press logo appears in the lower right.

This book analyses the wave of roguelite games that has appeared over the past decade, putting them in historical context and informing readers about their development out of and relation to the roguelike genre that inspired them.

The book includes discussions of the historical development and significance of roguelites, critical perspectives on topics such as gender, politics, philosophy, analyses of the influence of roguelikes on roguelites, and discussions of design and mechanics.

This book will appeal to those wishing to study and learn more about the roguelites, games studies students and researchers, and game designers interested in this genre.

Inspired by william-rous.itch.io/type-help, I wanted to see how you'd put together a "database-style" game in ink: turns out, it's very straightforward to get it up and running!

The following gist is all the ink you need to get it up and running.

โ€œDigital Pasts and Futures: Internet Histories, Digital Interculturality and Reimagining Digitalityโ€

Call-for-Papers: The Fourth ReDICo (Researching Digital Interculturality Co-operatively) Conference
Online, 23-24 June 2025

In this conference we would like to bring together scholars who engage with internet histories, digital futures and digital interculturality so as to initiate a discussion regarding the reimagining of digitality, not least its relationship to interculturality. We are, thus, interested in wide and interdisciplinary approaches that go beyond the presentism that often marks media and communication studies, while also engaging with alternative visions of how digitality can be construed, not least from an intercultural perspective.

For more details see: https://hub.redico.eu/call-for-papers/111/digital-pasts-and-futures-internet-histories-digital-interculturality-and-reimagining-digitality-conference-online-23-24-june-2025

Please send an abstract (250 words) of your intended paper to: redico@uni-jena.de by 28 February 2025. It is intended that a selection of the papers presented will be published following a peer review process in book form, funding pending, with the transcript Publishing House in the Series โ€œStudies in Digital Interculturalityโ€. The conference is without fees, completely online and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).

Keynote speakers that have already been confirmed include Prof. Valรฉrie Schafer (University of Luxembourg), Associate Prof. Helle Strandgaard Jensen (Aarhus University), Prof. Ethan Zuckerman (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) and Prof. Ramesh Srinivasan (University of California, Los Angeles).

I'm livid & frustrated that Bloodborne PSX has been DMCA'd. When I started @noclipvideo.bsky.social the idea was to preserve stories because the games or creators may not be available in the future. I didn't expect our one first so soon. So sorry @b0tster.yeag.gay.
