Absolutely love this perspective
That combined with good people leaving the profession due to burnout- I am definitely worried about the future of our field.
Alice Wong reminded us that community space matters;
"Community is magic. Community is power. Community is resistance."
May Alice’s memory live on in our shared work, our collective flourishing, and our commitment to freedom and dignity for all.

School psychology continues to be a largely white field, despite strides made toward racial representation and equity. Dr. Malone's thoughtful and critical work honors the historical and present experiences of SPs of color and helps us imagine ways to move forward.
I can't even imagine how frustrating it is, especially seeing the same patterns almost 50 years later in the case of Ms. Curtis. I will be sharing this. You are a force of good in our field!
This is spectacular- thank you for doing this important work. Loved this line "They understood that psychology and school psychology would not become more racially diverse due to the benevolence of white professionals; structural change was necessary".
I'm impressed by your record! This was actually the first season that I managed to not see any spoilers.
Being a school psychologist is so challenging yet incredibly rewarding. This career is more important now than ever. In a time when our government is sending the message that we shouldn't care about the most marginalized members of society, we care even harder. That in itself is an act of revolution
This is really important. OCD isn't a fun personality quirk, it causes immense suffering. This is compounded for people of color w. OCD, who are more likely to be misdiagnosed and undertreated.
The version of "Born in the USA" that Bruce Springsteen wanted to release originally- he was told it wouldn't sell. Seems fitting for today
the story today is of a profoundly low energy military parade being met with millions of americans in nationwide protests denouncing the dictatorial pretensions of the president
Forgot to add alt text- photos of two slides with information about how to prepare and support families in the event someone is detained by ICE.
Some of this information is specific to Montgomery County (Maryland), but a lot of it is nationally applicable. If you have the privilege of citizenship, especially if you're white, now is the time to familiarize ourselves with how to protect our neighbors and communities from ICE.
I would say probably every major US city. I live near DC and the crowd for his 'parade' was very small. The other really cool thing is that small towns/communities all over the country also had protests, which we rarely see. That inspired me even more than the big cities.
So glad to see this migrated from twitter over to bluesky! I was missing the OCD community
I am so thankful that my daughter's pediatrician offered MMR at 6 months because of this outbreak. A reminder that adult immunity to measles can wane over time, so it's always safe to get a booster. We have to protect each other, because this administration certainly won't.
do you think the new pope has tried malort
Do you identify as a Latine individual (student, practitioner, faculty, etc.) in the field of school psychology? If so, please consider participating in our research study by scanning the QR code on the flyer or visiting the following link: utexas.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
This is very true. And at the same time, autistic people with high support needs who will never be able to live independently or have a job are also fully worthy of a dignified life. Not participating in capitalism doesn't make someone a tragedy.
RFK called autism a "tragedy" that "destroys families and children". Lack of supports and resources is a tragedy. Ableism is a tragedy. Loss of medicaid and section 504 would be a tragedy. Our current administration is a catastrophic tragedy. But autism is not and never will be a tragedy.
A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.
Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility — a time to celebrate the strength, beauty, and resilience of trans people around the world. Join us in uplifting trans voices, honoring their contributions, and standing up to the discrimination they continue to face.
Our goal should always be to presume competence and honor the inherent dignity of every single student we work with.
As we honor Women’s History Month, let’s remember the strength and resilience of enslaved women who fought for freedom and shaped history. Their resilience continues to inspire the fight for justice today. 165 days to Slavery Remembrance Day. #CountDowntoSRD
My daughter isn't old enough to have the MMR vaccine. If you have the ability to vaccinate your children and choose not to, you are endangering not only your own child but your entire community.
Just so we’re clear: There is NO version of reality where dissolving the Department of Education isn’t a spectacularly bad idea. “But we’ll save money!” Oh right, because gutting education has always led to a stronger economy and a more successful country. My bad, my bad 🤡🤡
Ramadan Mubarak to all my friends and colleagues who are observing. May this be a month of peace and transformation for you 🌙♥️
This won't stop at removal from the military. This administration is trying to complete erase trans existence, by any means necessary. It's up to all of us to protect our trans brothers and sisters.
Love this. I reported Elon for gender-affirming care (hair plugs). We must protect our children against the radical left!!
