Hey everyone! This is the Pinsir from this account's avatar speaking! While the metagame and this account haven't been online much in recent times, we're currently working on renovating both the format as well as the server, so stay tuned for updates to both the movepools as well as the account!

Which NU mons do you think deserve a spotlight?
04.11.2024 00:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
It's unknown where Marowak is going to rank. On one hand, a Ground-type with Amnesia sounds really cool and fun to use. On the other...critical hits and Water-types. It seems the only way we'll know for sure is when we have enough data for the NU viable mons so far.
Happy Day of the Dead!

Marowak went mostly under the radar until it began showing its potential in NU, with every weakness to Ground-type being Special and Amnesia boosting the aforementioned Special stat. This way, Marowak can force itself to have longevity despite having overall low stats.
03.11.2024 03:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
But why would Marowak want Amnesia? Isn't it a Ground type with bad stats? Well...yes, but it's also the only one with access to Blizzard and Fire Blast, which gives it coverage into its otherwise checks and actually threatens great damage to almost any mon in the NeverUsed tier.

DAILY KANTO+ SPOTLIGHT #8: Marowak (NU)
Marowak is actually an OU staple...in GSC. There, it's actually a setup sweeper that also takes advantage of the Thick Club. In RBY, however, it doesn't really have any of that success. Then comes Kanto+ to give it access to one very powerful move: Amnesia.
03.11.2024 03:57 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
If you plan on using Scyther in Kanto+ NU, use it either as a lead or a cleaner. Its fast speed and sweeping potential cannot be understated, and though its coverage can't help it against every mon, the power of each move should be enough to tear through most.
02.11.2024 21:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
The main drawback of this otherwise powerful threat is that it's really easy to wall Scyther. Charizard resists its main STAB in Bug Bite, whereas Magneton resists Dual Wingbeat, and Graveler and Kabutops resist all of its moves. Agility-boosted Seadra can also threaten Blizzard, as can Poliwhirl.
02.11.2024 21:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Scyther in Kanto+ was gifted the moves of Bug Bite and Dual Wingbeat, two decently strong STAB options that help it function as a Bug/Flying-type. Bug Bite is super-effective into Mr. Mime as well as Nidoking and Exeggcute for good measure. Agility is also an option to play around Paralysis.

KANTO+ DAILY SPOTLIGHT #7: Scyther (NU)
That's a really big bug. That's also a really big Speed stat. Swords Dance as well!? Yeah, this might be the fastest cleaner in Kanto+ NeverUsed. But is it the best? And what do these traits mean for the tier as a whole?

On the topic of NU, how many of you would be interested in a tournament?
01.11.2024 15:33 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Happy NeverUsed November, everyone! Throughout the month, we'll be posting significantly more to promote the Kanto+ NeverUsed tier, starting with today's upcoming Daily Spotlight! We also plan on hosting a new tournament for NU as well as the tier's first Viability Rankings!
See you then!

Gengar can easily become a nightmare for your team that can put even the White Hand to shame. High Speed and Special combined with a good typing, good coverage, AND good utility make Gengar a key threat in OverUsed, placing it squarely in the A1 Rank.
Happy Halloween, everyone!

This thing was already fantastic in Vanilla RBY, so the extra coverage makes it in contention for the best sleep lead next to Jynx. However, it does have good utility late game, as proven by its strong enough Explosion and its fantastic coverage that can allow it to adapt to almost anything.

Gengar got a slew of new moves going into Kanto+, including Giga Drain for coverage against Rhydon, Sludge bomb for coverage against Exeggutor, and Shadow Ball for coverage against...itself? Who knows? Maybe Gengar mirrors are really common this time of year.

KANTO+ DAILY SPOTLIGHT #6: Gengar (OU)
Let's face it. This is the Ghost-type representative and it isn't even close. Gengar's fantastic coverage, immunity to Normal-type, and access to Hypnosis and Explosion make it one of the most unique offensive threats in...all of PokΓ©mon, actually.

Persian briefly dropped to UnderUsed before it was decided a month after the tier was created that it's too fast and strong for the tier. As for OU, it currently sits in the C1 Rank, and currently has the most potential to rise back into OU if fortune favors it enough.
01.11.2024 02:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
So how come Persian isn't in OverUsed anymore? Its gameplan is too inconsistent. Hypnosis has only a 60% chance to put the opponent to sleep, which can really screw you over if you're playing too recklessly. There's also the severe weakness to status, which is very unfortunate.
01.11.2024 02:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
However, unlike Gengar, it lacks a surprise option to keep your opponent on their toes. Gengar can explode and suddenly generate free momentum at will. Persian mainly has to rely on Slash for damage, meaning Gengar becomes very frustrating to handle once Sleep Clause activates.
01.11.2024 02:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
In RBY Tradebacks, Persian gained the move Hypnosis, thus turning it into the single fastest sleep setter in the metagame. This move was also given to it in Kanto+, where it succeeds in the lead metagame, letting it outspeed most while also doing good damage to alakazam.

KANTO+ DAILY SPOTLIGHT #5: Persian (OU)
In the times of old, Persian used to be OU ranked in Vanilla RBY not too long ago. It had access to Slash, a stat spread of mostly average numbers aside from its insane Base 115 Speed, and coverage that did the job against mons such as Starmie and Rhydon.

Despite this, Articuno is currently the third best UU mon, and its Blizzard + Agility set remains its best set, albeit with the new addition of Drill Peck. Its power is not to be underestimated, but there are very clear ways of playing around it even with its power.
30.10.2024 03:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
A few other checks worth mentioning include Electabuzz due to its speed and STAB Thunderbolt, Dewgong for the same reasons as always, and Poliwrath due to its bulk and Hypnosis. Additionally, Vileplume can undo the Freeze status for its teammates with Aromatherapy.
30.10.2024 03:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Omastar got two major buffs going into Kanto+. The first being Recover, a move that lets it shrug off chip damage and better fulfill its purpose as a wall. The second being Ancient Power, a STAB move that lets it deal massive damage to Articuno, usually 2HKOing it.

KANTO+ DAILY SPOTLIGHT #4: Articuno (UU)
You may be a little confused as to why Articuno is currently ranked in UU whereas in Vanilla RBY, Articuno is officially UUBL. Simply put, the mons that check this thing have gotten better for their own reasons. The biggest one as of now seems to be Omastar.
30.10.2024 03:41 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Pinsir rising to OU is truly an undertaking. Much like Machamp, all it took was a good STAB move, and now look at it. Currently, Pinsir is ranked at B1 as of the latest VR, next to Gyarados. If you can find a way to fit Pinsir on your team, try it. It's so fun clicking the [DELETE PSYCHIC] button.
30.10.2024 03:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
On the other hand, Pinsir needs a bit of setup in order to lean into its strengths. It's also very prone to status and takes a good deal of damage from Flying-type attacks like Zapdos' Drill Peck, Gyarados' Aerial Ace, and Dragonite's Dual Wingbeat. As such, it's best to leave it for the late game.
