Ina

Founded in the 7th century, Taki-an is a quiet cradle of Shugendō and later, Tendai Buddhism. Named for the waterfall behind it (箕面の滝), the temple draws no crowds—only wind, rainwater pooled in incense burners, and dandelions peeking through bricks. It is not abandoned, only still.

In the quiet heart of Kyoto, within the moss-lined paths of Daitoku-ji Temple, I stood before a bonsai said to be over 800 years old.
In a world that rushes forward,
this little tree whispered:
stay still.
Time will come to you.
