The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk

Really enjoying this book sent to me by my US penpal - the Plantin Polyglot Bible and the Bakhshali manuscript are in the story, and I’ve been enjoying all the rare books mentioned

Thank you! I’m not sure about that! I have a lot of catching up to do. Wish I’d started knitting properly a lot earlier in life x

Because of the moss stitch I found it too hard to count. It looks okay I think. Thank you! Xx

Debbie Bliss yarn in pink and green The buttons are from a shop in Bath and I bought them on a whim A close up of the buttons

I finished the Menet cardigan for my six year old neighbour. I hope she likes it! I’ve wrapped it with a spare button and the washing instructions 🧶 I am happy with my knitting. For a first attempt, I think it’ll do.

Menet cardigan in Debbie Bliss yarn, pale pink, sugar pink, and lime green - age 6

I sewed the buttons on the Menet knitted cardigan this evening. I just did it by eye. I’ve no idea if that’s right.

Thanks! I appreciate any and all advice ❤️I did turn the work and cast on; so I’ve no idea why it’s such mess. I must have done something wrong 😬

Button band - left side - looks good enough Button hole a complete mess. There is a piece of yarn right across where the hole should’ve been A hole that can’t be seen, that’s what a disaster it is

Well, my first button band knitted up well, but the one with the button holes in is a disaster! I’ve followed the pattern really carefully. BO2 on one row followed by CO2 on the next row. But it’s just a tangle. Ugh. How to fix. I shall frog. 🧶😰 Menet cardigan (Ravelry) plus Debbie Bliss yarn

A still from the film showing the gastronomes enjoying their chef’s creations

Watching The Taste of Things with Juliette Binoche on the BBC iPlayer, and it’s rather wonderful - as recommended by my sister

I’m Piedknitter on there - would love to see how you get on with the pattern. I’m on the button band which I’m finding really tricky

Menet pattern by Mindie Tallack Top down and seamless, Menet has a garter slip stitch pattern on the yoke in three alternating colours and a plain, stocking stitch body. The neck, body and sleeve edges are knitted in moss stitch.

Yes of course it is called Menet by Mindie Tallack, and it is on Ravelry

I might try something in my size - I wanted to have a go with a small garment as I’ve never knitted a cardigan or done slip stitch colour work before, so this is for my neighbour’s granddaughter, (she’s 6) as I don’t have any grandchildren of my own. 🩷

My mum taught me when I was little. I don’t think I ever finished a garment, although I started about three as a teenager. Then I gave up until four years into retirement I decided to try again - made a hat in Jan 2025, and went from there! X

Oh wow! Thank you so much - I’ve only been knitting for just over a year, it’s my first go at slip stitch colour work. I hope it works out and fits the little girl I’ve made it for x

Waiting for Godot review – Matthew Kelly and George Costigan are a bleakly funny double act Even the safety curtain has a morbid air in Dominic Hill’s post-apocalyptic staging of Beckett’s classic

Just booked tickets for this, and I can’t wait. First saw it at school studying A level, and I’ve seen it a few times since
