The term "video game" is inferior to the term "ludcept" as a video game can be more than video and game. Ludcept includes all the possible parts that form the whole; there must be a game part along with any of the following: visuals, story, sound, et cetera. Using the term ludcept in place of the term game when describing the whole frees it for use to describe the game part, notice the use of gameplay to describe the game part when the whole is described and thought of as a game, when in fact it is something more than just a game. Why ludcept? Why not a-b-c-cept, ludblah, or vidgammus? Split ludcept into its parts: "lud" is the latin root for "play" and "game", while "cept" is the latin root for "take" and "hold". Ludcept then means by its roots: "something that holds an idea, part of which is a game". (read this article's appendix)
