Woodsmith Project: More than 1,000 workers to leave £7bn Yorkshire mine scheme as numbers halved More than 1,000 people currently employed on the creation of a new £7bn Yorkshire mine are to lose their jobs on the project.

Worth noting also that the project has been subject to big job cuts.

Around 2,000 people were thought to have previously worked on the mine – latest figures from Anglo American put the figure at around 1,100.
