Sen. Roger Marshall on high gas prices: "Freedom is not free. Americans are gonna have to make some sacrifices."
Kansas taxpayers are going to get hosed to pay for the new Chiefs stadium, just to line the pockets of the billionaire Hunt family.

Go home, weather app, you're drunk.
Oh wait, it's Kansas. Nvm.
Big ups to @pbump.com for turning me on to the Spurious Correlations website.
It's delightfully insane.

Trump only favors team efforts when there's a mess to be cleaned up.
He is so great and so relatable, but he has also had some sick burns.
Truly a tragedy that they didn't let him loose.
I’m telling y’all we could use more of that energy on this side of the pond. Decorum doesn’t work with Republicans who are steamrolling norms and daring Dems to fight back.
📌 Australian Greens Senator Nick McKim accuses his own government of “complicity” in what he calls an “illegal US-led war.”
Like getting pregnant in the United States?
OMG MY STATE REPRESENTATIVE IS THE WORST!
Sorry to every other Kansan not in House District 8, but my state representative, Chris Croft, is the absolute worst member of the Kansas House.
He's selling off KU, K-State & Wichita State to private equity.
WTAF?!?!

My vote doesn't matter.
IT F&CKING DOES, THO
If LLOYD BLANKFEIN of GOLDMAN SACHS is out here advocating for a more progressive tax system, then it's time for a more progressive tax system, #ksleg.
No but seriously--thank you!
This isn't quite brutal enough, @theonion.com, but I'll allow it.
2025 paper from researchers at Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University finds that as humans increasingly rely on generative AI in their work, they use less critical thinking, which can “result in the deterioration of cognitive faculties that ought to be preserved.”

That's all for now. But I will definitely be doing more threads like this as more folks launch campaigns.
The 2026 electorate is going to be much better for Democrats than the 2024 electorate was, in Kansas and elsewhere.
So hopefully we'll have a lot more candidates filing soon!
"A court that is too quick to assume too much about the facts or possible
impacts of law risks the appearance of either political bias or lack of appreciation for the value & importance of the full, fair deliberative process in such circumstance."
THEY PASSED THE LAW THE DAY IT WAS INTRODUCED!
Oh man, this Brownback-appointed judge they gave the case to already sucks ass.

GOP Rep. Monica de la Cruz thought she was being clever when she said that Tejano-singer-turned-Dem nominee Bobby Pulido ‘only belongs at quinceañeras’.
In response, Pulido said he’d perform at quinceañeras in the district.
Now 1,000 invitations have poured in.

Although, to be fair, find me bipartisan legislation that this wouldn't be a good descriptor of.
A young person whose campaign I've been liking, and who is running in a district where Dems essentially haven't ever run a candidate post-redistricting is Kylie Kilmer. She probably won't win, but God bless her for at least trying. Wish we had a lot more like her.

Next up is Sherry Giebler, who ran in a very tough state Senate race in 2024. The educator is back in 2026 to try to re-flip HD-14, which the odious Charlotte Esau managed to win back in 2024 after losing it in 2022.
My guess is second time's the charm for Sherry.

If any seat flips, my guess is it will be hers. Next up strike back at horrific anti-trans law by supporting trans candidate Avery Rowland in HD-02, a southeast KS seat that is ancestrally Democratic. (Tbh, it's ancestrally Socialist & so a progressive might surprise us here)

But since we need to pick up four seats in the state house to uphold Gov. Holscher's 😉 veto post-2026, that means we mostly need to play offense, which is more fun anyway.
Realtor Allison Hougland is aiming to re-take the seat she lost in a heartbreaker in 2024.

😍 Well, let's start w/the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent, who is most likely Olathe's Nikki McDonald. Nikki is an educator, an activist, & she runs the hell out of her campaigns, which enabled her to win in 2024, despite Dems losing many nearby districts.

Could u maybe instead pick a couple of Democratic state legislative candidates to strongly support? Maybe a gubernatorial one, too? And just, like, go balls to the wall on supporting them from afar? Because that would be f&cking awesome & incredibly helpful.
If u want ideas on who, lemme know!
Know any good, liberal Jewish lawyers who could sue over that? 😉
No but seriously, someone sued over that, right?
Suck it, Silicon Valley billionaires.
Taxing the rich merely for the sake of taxing the rich is great. The healthcare part is just a nice bonus.
Great piece on the lawsuit producing all these insane DOGE boy depositions, if you’re looking for a deeper dive that will infuriate you: www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...
I want to punch him in the face so very, very badly.
Just one punch?
PLEEEEEEEEASE.
I'm gay, so he'd probably think it wouldn't hurt at all.
