I wish there was more granular more generally
Roblox should allow parents to block AI-centric experiences from populating their children's Roblox accounts. It shouldn't come down to whether Roblox considers the chatbot interaction "extended" or "brief." I don't want either. www.crossplay.news/p/new-ai-upd...
Completely agree they've made it worse, more widespread, and ensnared more addicts in the process. You pour gasoline on anything and you're going to hurt more people, especially now that the gambling parts are way, way more accessible. There are no hoops to jump through
Apologies, this stream won't be happening today due to unforeseen personal reasons, and probably won't happen next week, either. We'll let people know when we can get it on the schedule again. Thanks for your patience ❤️

Yes, details this week!
Hey, sorry! Update on this: New date coming in April. Patrick did not realize this was St. Patrick's Day weekend and that's probably a poor choice for a meetup 😅 New details soon.
It's a private company, which also means they do not owe anyone an explanation beyond "pay up."
It was such a thrill to be on Worth Reading with Patrick, and I love that he's brought this format back, showcasing great games writing from around the web in a 30 minutes no hold barred. I get a little bleak here but it is also another rallying cry for supporting independent media!! 🙏
They've already changed their entire stance on loot boxes because of Roblox, so whether it's reflected in player habits yet or not, I do think it's having a tangible impact on how the company is run, even existentially
Not a clue but it's a really great question
yep
Which is why companies like Netflix just raise the bill and walk away without trying to explain anything lol
Everything is going up, so V-Bucks going up? Okay! I think it sucks given the company's scale, but it happens. It's not that much different than a Netflix subscription. But the statement is what stopped my dead in my tracks. I'm shocked they went with that explanation. Nothing would've been better.
If it was that easy, I think they would've just said that
Also, Roblox. Roblox is slowly eating Fortnite.
Part of the problem, I assume, is that Epic (as a company) and Fortnite (as a game, and as a platform) is going to embrace AI and AI itself is one of the reasons Fortnite is more expensive to run. That's a tough message to explain to people. It also explains why you might not even try.
Going to print out Epic's blog post and hand it to my nine-year-old later tonight.
I tried asking Epic for more information on their "the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills” statement—a statement that feels exceptionally out of touch in this economy—and was told the company would not be elaborating.
I think we also have to talk about how the aesthetic of gambling has pervaded so many games lately.
I love games like Balatro, Vampire Survivors, Clover Pit, and Raccoon, but it does make me worried for my psyche when everything is loud and flashy and dopamine-y like I'm at a casino
It was a delight to chat with journalist Jack Ryan (@jacksonwryan.com) for Worth Reading this week, about his excellent (but distressing) piece in @aftermath.site about the way casinos, crypto, and AI are junking up your favorite web sites podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...
Wait, doesn't Blood Bowl already exist? I'm confused
ok ok, I will at least give it a shot and erase the FOMO
hmmmmm
Nah, whatever works
are you playing entirely solo? there is zero chance I will ever play this with another person, but I'm feeling the FOMO and trying to supress it
Absolutely. If you can provide a translation into English, I'll include it.
