They are a peculiar species that thrive in the arid plains. Telepathic and featureless, they often wear masks to facilitate interaction with humans, and scavenge gear from those who don’t survive the heat.

Since publishing Rainbow Trap in June, I've been sharing ideas from the book across the UK and getting a feel for what ideas about LGBTQ data resonate with audiences and what ideas fall flat.

This government’s β€œone in, one out” deal, and the language used to promote it, continues the same, failed, policies of demonising those seeking safety over providing them with protection, while also admitted to the world that the UK continues to fail to use existing family reunification routes to ensure that people don’t have to rely on gangs.
Nobody risks their life crossing the channel to work in the informal economy. That is a consequence of a system which denies those seeking asylum the right to work and forces them to live on a pittance.
Claiming that those forced to use irregular routes to seek asylum in the UK are not β€œgenuine refugees” plays straight into a harmful, and false narrative about people seeking safety.
If this government was serious about reducing channel crossings they would ensure that there are safer and simpler means for those coming to do so, rather than creating a system of swapping people between countries in a never ending game of human being pass the parcel.

Randomly on this subject, my (Egyptian) wife had never heard of Stonehenge when I mentioned it recently, so I showed her photos of it, assuming she’d recognise the look but not the name etc, and she was just like, this is pathetic, your ancestors were small and weak

Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied
