If you're a Not Disabled person and you're setting up a room for a meeting, what do you wish you had as guidance to include disabled people?
A fold out paper "wheelchair space guide" for ex.
What actual, practical stuff would you want? What kinds of guidance? (Making a pack for local parties)
It's been 30 years since the Disability Discrimination Act was passed, and 15 since it was rolled into the Equality Act 2010.

Outing can be deadly, but this would rule out every immunocompromised person from attending pride. Wearing masks "post-COVID" isn't optional for millions of people. This is an intersectional harm and Labour are just showing how little they care for disabled folks as well as queer and trans ones.
Cade Hatton explains why he wants to be the Green Party's next equality and diversity coordinator
The accessible and inclusive way of asking for pledges is to email or otherwise contact candidates directly asking for their pledges.
This way of asking for agreement to pledges is inaccessible and exclusionary and not what I'd expect from this group.
No, Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in this context! Sorry!
i must work harder at being trans, pretty good sounds like a challenge xD
how does mine shake out
With the candidate lists all out, I'm really excited to say I can't wait to vote for @zackpolanski.bsky.social , Ash Routh, and @anist.bsky.social in the leader and deputy leader elections.
July is #DisabilityPrideMonth and we are standing proud even when both Labour and the Tories want to cut us down.
Stand tall this month, in spite of them.
I posted about it elsewhere a while ago but now my nominations have been confirmed and I've sent my candidate statement in - I'm running for Equality & Diversity Coordinator for the Green Party.
Super excited for the hustings and other election business!
It's absolutely unacceptable for Starmer and Kendall to come after disabled people, when a minor Wealth Tax would raise ten times the amount even they claim they'll save from these inhumane cuts.

This #LGBTPlusHistoryMonth the theme is activism, and who better to kick off with than Octavia Hill?
An unapologetic lesbian, who co-founded the National Trust- celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. A passionate campaigner for housing and the rights of the working class.
Any form of insulting a person based on their intelligence is ableist.
"Apparently intelligent people" can be misinformed, ignorant, a bigot. Insulting their intelligence helps no one and actively harms people.
As a disabled trans person I am constantly exhausted by the ableism from "allies".
Yes. It has been since the word was made. Insulting folks based on intelligence is ableist towards those with learning disabilities.
Ignorant would usually work, though SA is absolutely aware of what he's doing here. Intelligence and bigotry do not correlate. Dense is also ableist. I'd suggest doing some reading into the origins of words and just generally not insulting folks based on their intelligence or mental capacity.
I am absolutely sick of people acting like bigotry is a sign of low intelligence or that it has something to do with your ability ro read or spell. You didn't mean it like that? Then don't fucking say it like that.
If you use ableist/disableist language you are not progressive. If you use ableist language you are not part of the solution. If you use ableist language, I do not count you as an ally or a member of my community.
Could you try not to use ableist language to describe bigots.
Please can we stop using ableist language to describe bigots???? Like absolutely minimum. Hard to want to keep fighting for trans rights (my own rights!) when ableism and ignorance is so prevelant.
My TheStoryGraph wrap up 2024! My goals for 2025 are much higher as I'm working in a 30 minute read before bed every night, rather than "this book has grabbed my brain and i will read it and its three sequels then i will not read for two months" which is my present strategy...
Success! Just finished Heavenly Tyrant.
Goals for next year - I'm thinking 78 books (1.5 books per week), 20k words and 150 hours.
I'm also planning on doing better with actually reviewing books too >.<
My @ on Storygraph is kailajay if anyone wants to add me!
There are other reasons I love this game, tonnes, but being seen, really seen, being respected, getting to both speak to trans elders in game and *be one* in game, it's just. It is a lot, and maybe one day it will be more normal, but I don't know if it'll ever hit quite like this again.
Veilguard comes along and sure, there are problems, but.
I get to play a non binary character, with top surgery scars, voiced by a non binary actor, who has multiple options on *how* you express being trans, you get to support an nbi companion, and there are multiple trans characters just around.
Dorian Pavus was my favourite companion of Inquisition (with Sera a close second, and only because of the way Inky gets to treat her).
That line was what made me stop shying away from correcting people on my pronouns and what made me remember I get to be me and I get to be proud.
I've probably played approaching 1800 hours of Inq, if not 2k+ (long dead xbox + PC). It is my comfort game. I have romanced everyone. I have made every choice. (Except the Chargers. That always goes the same way).
"Selfish, I suppose, not to want to spend my entire life screaming on the inside."
I have spent some time joking about how it is impossible for me to be normal about Dragon Age: Veilguard and a lot of that is about how trans inclusiqve the game is.
When Inquisition came out, I was in my 2nd year at uni, I had just come out as trans, and DA:O and DA:2 had been great, so...
About to play some #DragonAgeVeilguard on twitch, hoping to at least wrap everything up so I can complete my first playthrough soon! Playing until 4ish.
twitch.tv/theinadichroncles
Going to play some #DragonAgeVeilguard in about ten minutes over at twitch.tv/theinadichronicles, if anyone is bored and wants to hear me infodump about a franchise that possibly cost me a first (it isn't my fault my favourite game ever came out halfway through my degree...)
