🚨 $ASTS and Vodafone submitted a joint response to the Call for Input: Future use of the 2 GHz MSS band from Ofcom (British FCC). 🚨
In it, they highlight the business strategy of super wholesale. This inclusiveness to other EU MNOs, in addition to just not being Elon, is a key differentiator in the AST application for 2GHz. Both are key reasons AST/SatCo will sign the other premier EU MNOs and receive an allocation of 2GHz MSS. 🧡1/3

How successful is this approach? Well, as of the submission date (September 2025), they note SatCo has signed MOIs with 6 EU MNO's representing 220 million subscribers.

With their bent pipe transparent architechture, ASTs approach is G agnostic. This means, when 6G is released, the orbiting satellites will be capable of providing this service. Numerous parties are advocating for native non terrestrial support in 6G (see comment section for post yesterday that shows EU working document on Digital networks act thinks NTN is native to 6G).

They explicitly spell out technical speeds they expect with 2GHz. Should get 3 bits/hz DL and 1.5 bits/hz UL. MIMO brings the DL speeds to 6 bits/hz. They can do this full frequency reuse!! I read this as no need for a color reuse pattern to avoid interference, though might need a @CatSE___ApeX___
  peer review.

Some nice content worth sharing from Xitter for $ASTS. The 3rd photo showing claims of 3 bits/hz currently for downlink and up to 6 bits/hz in the future when MIMO is enabled! Spectral efficiency at these levels is INSANELY GOOD for a space based design. Will be tough to match it let alone beat it.

IMO they will juice the market until the SpaceX/Open AI/Anthropic IPOs and midterms.

I bought my niece and nephew a new car. Also just bought a commercial building I’m donating to a local charity once we get it fixed up.

Ending QT and stuffing the Federal Reserve with yes men will be a good tailwind for next year too. You and I both know they will drop interest rates for the midterms because their economic policies are a disaster.

You think the entire constellation will be as bright as the early prototypes and the demand for broadband is marginally higher than dialup. Wild.

Lidgo is better spectrum and we got it for a fraction of what Starlink paid for spectrum with worse indoor service. Am I wrong?

Most of our politics in the U.S. has been based on billionaires and corporations avoiding taxes. The culture wars (distraction), inflation (tax on the poor), and deficit are a direct result. Citizens United was the lynch pin that gave the rich ultimate control over politics/disfunction of today.

Yes, prices will skyrocket.
Yes, business will go bankrupt.
Yes, stocks will crash.
Yes, unemployment will rise.

But if we hold on, the tariffs will be worth it. If fully implemented we can finally achieve the true American dream: rich people not having to pay ANY taxes.

I’m glad people have the courage to speak up. We are all learning what we would have done if we lived through the rise of Nazis. Incredible how closely history seems to be repeating itself. Afraid there will be a repeat of the night of long knives before too soon.

If you were the CEO of a wireless operator (MNO), Elon Musk = Trump = bad fit for your business. Mobile World Congress is this week. I think Starlink D2D service is done. No new buyers. $ down the drain. Even having cronies at the FCC will not change that situation. $ASTS

Best way I can explain this to you:

The race between Starlink and AST Spacemobile is like the race between DSL and fiber, except Starlink is still struggling to figure out DSL. But hey, DSL came first, so there is that.

Means they have high confidence that AST will be better service over that 10 year period. I just wish the stock price would discount this cash flow.

AST needs <300 satellites to provide mobile broadband and will have far more cellular cells.

Starlink will only provide texts and picture messages with 3000+ of their current satellites.
