Had my last meeting as the first Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission today. Made me think of this photograph of telephone operators. It was what women used to be able to do in communications technology. We have come a long way, but it is so important that the first is not the last.

FCC’s Net Neutrality Rules Struck Down by Federal Appeals Court After nearly two decades of fighting, the battle over regulations that treat broadband providers like utilities came to an end on Thursday.

Consumers across the country have told us again and again they want an internet that is fast, open and fair. With this decision it is clear Congress now needs to heed their call, take up the charge for net neutrality and put open internet principles in federal law.

‘The FCC has no business threatening to take away broadcast licenses’ Outgoing FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel says the agency should not make decisions based on the "grievances of the president."

The FCC should make decisions about communications based on the record, based on the facts, and based on the law, and not based on the whims coming out of the White House or the grievances of the President.

US agency to launch review of undersea cables, national security risks The Federal Communications Commission said on Wednesday it will vote next month to review its oversight of the global network of undersea communications cables that handle nearly all the world's internet traffic and national security issues.

You’ve probably never thought about submarine cables. They’re buried in the deep, dark depths of the ocean. But they carry internet traffic worldwide and trillions of dollars of economic activity every day. They deserve our attention—and security.
