Well, never mind, apparently they made a mistake and I now have the account back 🙄

I barely use Threads, but it's frustrating that no human was a part of reviewing my account and now there's nothing I can do about it.

Has anyone had to deal with this? I cannot find any way to appeal it, it's just permanently suspended for no reason.

I love the Memoirs of Lady Trent series!

A while ago I did a comics art share post, and there were so many people replying to that without sequentials, but saying they want to work in comics...

You'll only get hired once you can show people that you can do The Thing. You want to work in comics? You need sequential pages.

Build a community of your peers around you, be open to feedback. Keep learning, improving. That never stops!

And social media is super scattered these days. Don't depend on a website that could go away any moment for your portfolio. Make your own thing!

And this takes time, of course! But with creative work, whether it's comics, illustration, etc, one of the things editors and creative directors also want to see is that you can keep doing it consistently.

I'm not a professional illustrator, but I'm sure it applies to that area as well. I've had people reach out to ask for advice on how they can work for XYZ IP.

You need to show you can do The Thing. You need illustrations in their style, several of them.

There are so many scripts and pages for free online! You can find a script and illustrate a few pages yourself. Color pages in different styles to show you understand the medium.

And if you don't know what a portfolio looks like, I'm sure many of your favourite creators have some you can reference.

You want to be a colorist, a letterer? You need examples of that too, and coloring a single illustration isn't enough. You need to show you can maintain tone, tell a story through color, that you understand how a comic page works.

I've tried being on Threads a few times and just... Nooo!! 😭

But I have noticed that even in terms of just the authors, they seem to be there a lot more. And no one can explain why they've chosen that over Bsky 😅
