Easily one of the best performances I’ve seen in a while!

FYI to trans people:

HRT Cafe has apparently shut down after too much media attention.

Please, take advice from an old trans woman:

Take those discussions underground. All of them. Anything that discusses what we need to survive & where to get it. Word of mouth and private forums only!

That last sentence “I’m not convinced it is.” is the end of the 3rd to last paragraph in that article. The author hand waves about what a potential solution could be for one paragraph and then closes with what amounts to “capitalism will figure it out, don’t worry.”

It’s infuriating.

If AI is to be forced on us by capitalism, then capitalism must answer for the problems it can cause. And I don’t think it’s equipped to understand that if it disrupts society in a way that results in very few having resources, then society will tear it down in response.

Screenshot from a Forbes article with the following text:

But in the AI world, where fewer people produce the same output, forcing society to maintain full employment starts to look and feel like make-work. And if we're honest with ourselves, make-work makes up a large proportion of the day for many people in large corporates today.
So maybe the goal shifts, so the target isn't full employment. Maybe it's a labour market that's far more fluid than we're used to. And maybe it's time to encourage unemployment, not stigmitise it?
Once we accept that, the next question is what can replace jobs as the mechanism for distributing income, what replaces it?
That's where, time and again, universal basic income gets waved around like an easy answer. I'm not convinced it is.

Forbes, you were so so fucking close. AI replacing humans has been a question in the comp sci field for a long time and nobody has a good answer except for maybe moving to a post capitalist, more socialist society.

UBI has been trialled so many times and it gets the same great results each time.

an increasing challenge for me, and a lot of other korps writers, is that we mostly all have a lot of practice making our antagonists reprehensible, yes, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to match how unbelievably stupid the real life bad guys are becoming

“Listen, all you have to do is take the oil slowly, in several much smaller containers, across an international border to a port that hasn’t got the infrastructure to deal with a sudden gigantic logistical influx like this. Super easy!”

This idea is so dumb for so many reasons. It’s like a toddler came up with it.

A screenshot of a post by Maya Forstater on X (formerly Twitter). The main image is a dark, blue-tinted selfie of Forstater in the foreground, wearing glasses and a patterned scarf. Behind her is a large, crowded concert arena with a brightly lit stage in the distance. Below the photo is a quote-repost from "The Lies They Tell" (@sarahstuartxx) which reads:
"Join me tonight as I cover live the thrills and spills of the Trans Mission Live concert. Turns include Zack Polanski, Beth Ditto and a bunch of people you’ve never heard of. Literally hundreds of people attending the #FoxKillersVanityProject" A screenshot of a post by Julie Bindel on X featuring the hashtag #TransMission. The image shows a candid, side-profile photo of a woman with short dark hair wearing a long-sleeved green shirt. She is leaning against a black metal railing in what appears to be a dimly lit venue with purple ambient lighting.

It's really funny how Maya Forstater and Julie Bindel spend all their time online fearmongering about how trans people are dangers to women and children yet they went to a stadium full of 10k trans people and nothing at all happened to them.

Thanks for the donation, hope you enjoyed the show!

This is quite possibly the funniest thing Forstater could have done. She -paid money- to a benefit concert that in part funds @goodlawproject.org who has been fighting her policies in court, all so she could be big mad at trans people existing amongst 10k trans people who all ignored her.

The Bank of England is replacing Winston Churchill with a picture of a beaver on our bank notes.
This is the definition of woke.

i, for one, am delighted that we finally have a definition of “woke”

I know I’ve got some Labour local gov’t types following me, so I want to say this clearly so that you can share it internally as appropriate: I will never again vote Labour while these policies, or Wes Streeting, are in place. I will not vote Labour at any level because of this.
