Came here to say this, but you have already made the point well

Screwed up my thread, sorry, this should have been a reply to my other two recent posts

The country is better off for Obamacare though than if he'd pushed for a maximal package and gotten nothing (and likely paid a bigger political price)

16.02.2026 16:57 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Or think Obama fighting for Obamacare. He didn't get everything he wants. Things could and should get better, but it was meaningful change for millions, and he still paid a political price for it because they change didn't come in 2 years.

I like this, but it's an example of something I don't think would actually get done. Fighting hard for it and not getting it isn't a lot of use. Tax credits have sped up the adoption of electric cars immensely

16.02.2026 16:55 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's not a perfect plan, I can imagine scenarios where something else might make sense but it will work well most of the time.

16.02.2026 16:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think this is right. Vote the candidate you want in primaries, then in the general vote the party who your candidate was from, even if your preferred candidate didn't win. It's likely if that party wins, they will do a better job (or fuck things up less) by your own standards, than the opposition

16.02.2026 16:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So then the risk is that people promise all kinds of things, and they really mean it, and when it doesn't happen you get trump anyway.

16.02.2026 16:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I get this argument, but I'm not sure that anyone could have brought major changes at a rate that felt fast enough for many people. Certainly not major changes in a positive direction.

16.02.2026 16:36 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I've often thought we should vote for the party with a real chance to win, who will fuck things up the least

If marketing operations are any use if like to help (getting the message out to the right people at the right time) I'm out of town until Wednesday but could attend future meetings

I wonder if he's concerned about any groups being underrepresented, other than white people

This place is a scam. It's just a restaurant, not a factory at all. Don't be fooled

Nickel and Dimed - Wikipedia

NickleNickel and Dimed - On (Not) Getting By in America is an excellent book on some unexpected (to me when I read it) issues some face share.google/lrTlLNdITuYe...

But your point is correct

I get that not everyone has a car. If you've found a way to live without one by choice then maybe the delivery fee is money well spent. Otherwise, a treat here and there is great, but save for the car down payment, and then save more after with pickup and costco shopping

01.02.2026 19:10 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And take out without the delivery probably cuts the cost by a third. Get in the car and drive a short distance to get it.

What would one call a newly ordered world order? It would need to be something that distinguishes it from the old world order πŸ€”

Do you think the word "economically" is in there to distinguish his own family who did not come for economic reasons?
It's a dumb reason if it is, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's carving something out for himself
