Everyone shocked & horrified by RFK Jr should reflect on when they started treating Covid as something that only hurts people who don’t take care of their bodies or who have defective genes & not something THEY need to care about anymore. Cuz anyone still masking isn’t shocked

It's almost like the Dems aren't an opposition party, and mostly just want their turn at the corrupt money spigot that is running the US Government. Based on their actions so far this year, I think It being a fascist government suits a lot of them just fine.

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.

Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

The post of someone who is so desperately threatened by the idea of women controlling their own sexual identities that she can't bear it.

Liberalism in Mourning - Boston Review Lionel Trilling crystallizes the cynical Cold War liberalism that sacrificed idealism for self-restraint.

“If liberalism has a single desperate weakness,” Trilling wrote, “it is an inadequacy of imagination: it is always being surprised. There is always the liberal work to do over again because hard upon surprise disillusionment follows and for the moment of liberal fatigue reaction is always ready.”

My brother-in-law
tells me not to worry
about a possible recession,
but in the past
he has also told me
that climate change
is a hoax
and that Covid
is a cold,
and so the more he tells me
not to worry
the more worried I become.

A young squirrel in a mason jar. The jar is full of water an appears to be in a kitchen sink. The squirrel has his head above the surface and his front paws are holding him up. Undated image from a certified wildlife rehabber.

Here's a baby squirrel getting a bath in a mason jar. If you even care.

I was going to get the train today. But I am increasingly concerned at the deficit I’m running with Great Northern Rail. I buy a lot from them and they purchase nothing from me.
Tempted to apply a 20% tariff. Sure my tickets will cost 20% more but it might mean I buy fewer and reduce the deficit.

Is the Insect Apocalypse Really Upon Us? Claims that insects will disappear within a century are absurd, but the reality isn’t reassuring either.

Disinformation articles like this are what happens when academics and journalists venture into conservation biology with neither knowledge nor humility. The insect/biodiversity apocalypse is upon us. Believing otherwise is akin to climate denial.

Black lives matter.
Gay, lesbian and trans people deserve the same rights as everyone else.
Workplaces, and their staff & customers/clients benefit when they accommodate diversity.
People should be allowed to follow their religion.
These statements reflect basic human rights and a civilised society.

The biggest tool helping them defuse opposition on the moderate left and center is the fact that you can't really believe they are doing this shit, because it sounds like the crazy conspiracy theories that came out of your right wing second cousin's mouth.

They know that. They are using it.

🔥y'know, it'd be comical if it wasn't about what it is, but

i remember a LOT of dems telling me if trump wins [here's what's gonna happen] and they didn't like it when i pointed out that congressional dems would go along with everything he wanted (cuz they did last time too)

and here we are

A slide from a Heritage Foundation presentation about Project Esther, labeled "Antisemitism's Ecosystem."

“Soros” and Jewish Voice for Peace are at the tops of the columns titled “Masterminds” and “Organizers.”

This is a slide from the Heritage Foundation presentation that argues for political deportations like the targeting of Khalil.

It purports to describe "Antisemitism's Ecosystem."

Look closely: “Soros” and Jewish Voice for Peace are at the tops of the columns titled “Masterminds” and “Organizers.”

What do you call a rally attended by 100 people, 10 of whom display Nazi flags and insignia and are perfectly welcome there?

A Nazi rally. The end

Not that Israelis are the primary victims here but this aid shut down is *inevitably* going to have disastrous consequences for Israel, too.

And this is 100% a thing that is *only* happening because trump is in office

“We have to meet REAL Americans where they’re at: gun shows and tailgates” - these are the words of completely insular bloodsuckers whose strategy for political communication is to imagine the dumbest yokel they can, and then try to imagine how to talk down to that person

Telling people “just move” (BARRING the fact that living in a blue state is not gonna save you from a goddamn fucking thing and you’re delusional) is so absolutely disrespectful and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Trump, Vance & Zelensky: What The Hell Happened & How We Got Here Sharon Astyk published a post on Ko-fi

And what he encounters is incomprehension...

at every point, Zelensky rebukes them that the survival of his country and his people are neither a game nor a business. He refuses to let Trump deliver his final "You are fired" line, and he refuses to play his role and take his consolation prizes.

Trump, Hegseth and Vance have clearly gathered to tell Zelensky he didn't make the cut to the next episode, with the best lines delivered by Trump "You don't have the leverage. You don't have the cards...Its going to be hard to do business like this, Volodymyr."
