He’s a Syrian hamster which is the largest domestic species! I think a lot of people think of the Dwarf species of hamsters which are half their size! Odin isn’t particularly big for his kind but I have had larger females in the past! I also have very small rat-like hands 😂

Me and a giant white wolf called Bosch at the wolf sanctuary where I volunteer

Now we have Odin the All Hamster, @tehdeminz.bsky.social made the joke that Bosch is actually Fenrir and now I cannot unsee it

They are marketed as children’s toys and although some hamsters are tame off the bat, most need work on making them feel safe! Honestly I don’t think they’re good children’s pets!

Tanuki was taken to the vet last week for a lump on her side and I think the medication is doing something!? When I adopted her last year she wasn’t handleable so to get her to a point where she can be handled by a vet is such amazing progress. Shes getting old now at around 1 year and 8 months
