I thought this was about air quality and him attending an overseas conference, now it's housing quotas???

And it's the world service they value most, not crap light entertainment, celebrity dog walking, celebrity dancing and home makeovers.

News isn't cheap it's expensive. Sketch show, quiz shows and game shows are cheap. That's what thd BBC does badly, if in doubt do MOAR game shows!

A lot of London's great houses had vast private gardens, now long sold off. The Naval and Military Club in St James once had landscaped gardens laid out by Capability Brown. Hence my comment it was once v green, but a lot of that greenspace was inaccessible to most folk.

East London famously suffered the stink from the tanneries of Bermondsey due to prevailing winds. That's why the poor lived there, the better off lived in the west.

No it wasn't, that was south of the river. The part we now call Bermondsey, Tanner street still exists.

In case anyone asks...Brad Dexter was played for England in the 1966 World Cup and Roger Hunt played Harry Luck the fortune seeker in the Magnificent 7.

In 30 years time as a drone delivers a tray of drinks costing Β£347.00 to a table and the on screen host asks folk to name the British PM's between 2010 and 2025 that'll be the one they all miss, same as the 1966 England player nobody remembers and the Magnificent 7 one we all forget!

I'm not responding to that ding-a-ling and have muted him. Pointless and I've stuff to do, like watch an old film or something.

Or a comfortably off solicitor who worked pro-bono for couple of folk in a legal battle with a fast food empire.

Do you have to pay Β£1.1K a month for a room in a former council house built at public expense and inherited by the children of the original tenant to who it was sold for a fraction of it's value and is now a wealthy landlord having turned the lounge and into another two sleeping areas?

'But I think it’s fair that long term tenants be given the right to set down longer term roots.'
And they had that, with security of tenure, and there is not an infinitesimal bank of land available to keep building social housing on. Once the housing built is gone, it's gone.

Cheerio I'm done here

It does if the former social houses are privately owned tenanted properties. Social houses ensure a reasonably priced housing stock is there for all to access. Not priced at the most expensive market rate.

They look pretty modern with their low profile and rakish funnel style. i wondered if this was genuine nautical engineering or Italian stylistic flair?

CP- Italian 2WW ships looked so great, did they function well, (regardless of the quality of their leadership, but were they good ships)?
Thankyou

A tale of two cities: is air pollution improving in Paris and London? Paris and London are Europe's two megacities and both experience poor air quality with systemic breaches of the NO2 limit value. Policy initiatives ha…

London had a lot of greenspace up until the 18th century and the industrialisation of the city.

I have been developing retail properties and groceries for 25 years. This week, an interview with me appeared in Germany's leading real estate newspaper, and it will be republished (🀞) next week in the leading business newspaper.

The topic: The bicycle is the future of downtown retail.

I've capped this post from the Mayor of London with an old Kipper Williams cartoon from the once great Time Out magazine. Really pleased to see my old home doing better looking after the air we breath.

But travelling by scheduled flight (which would be travelling anyway) is a good compromise given he is mayor of one of the most important cities in the world. Being able to meet, network and engage with other leaders is incredibly important. What PR stunt has he opted for?

The government says it wants to achieve growth but then it doesn't want immigrants, doesn't want to electrify the railways, and doesn't want high-speed trains. It's like me saying I want to lose weight and then eating a full English every day for breakfast.

I find that a hard argument to accept Paul given the bonkers salaries paid out across to performers and execs across the BBC. It described as if a charity working for public good, when it more closely resembles a licence to print money for some. Throughout my lifetime the BBC has pleaded poverty.
