I don't know how it was brought up to her. Knowing the internet, likely not well. I imagine it was thrown at her as an attack and harassment and all that. This is why I stay away from the obsessive fandom discourse.
I can see why she reacted like that, but that doesn't change my view overall.

I've heard some people discuss how insensitive it was to have someone who endorses and creates such art be involved with the show, let alone that scene. As an outsider who finds it unsettling anyway, I can see how some actual victims would find it even more so.

I know what it is, I've heard those terms before, though I don't see a difference between "CNC" and "rape fetish" aside from the words used.
Either way, people aren't allowed to question it, especially in the context of that specific scene.

I mean its fair if nobody else was able to do it, but my issue comes with her defending it afterwards. I don't expect employers to ask about their artists' personal interests ofc, but it coming to light like that and her defending it strikes me as a red flag.

When Viv was called out on this, she got extremely defensive and claimed non-con art can be a coping mechanism for survivors. While that may be true, that doesn't automatically mitigate criticism of it, and this artist she hired had admitted...

What got me the most was her hiring a storyboard artist who had drawn art fetishizing and glorifying rape. That person was then tasked with storyboarding scenes featuring allusions to rape...

If Goose is close with her, I consider that a bad look on them too.
Viv does not deserve hatred, but she also does not deserve rabid defending either.

Should clarify that it's more "theory culture" that I take issue with over theories themselves.

Theories can be fun but, when encouraged too much, they can often miss the point of media when it's not about the "deep lore" of things and more about simpler, more universal themes of a story.
