I haven't been posting much but Bluesky makes me happier whenever I scroll through it.
02.02.2025 13:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 02 weeks into 2025 now, things have been pretty normal, I suppose?

(I promise this isn't a post to dunk on it.)

This whole thread is exactly why I use a password manager and if an app doesn't let me sign up with email and password, I simply avoid it.
14.12.2024 08:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Whoops, should have saved a higher resolution first.
11.12.2024 20:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Simple black and white Custom Element logo with the letters CE stroked.
Just whipped this up quickly but I think it could be fun having a pure black and white logo that suggests a blank slate being customised. Apologise for not grabbing a better font though. ๐
11.12.2024 20:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I've been waiting for this for literally years! Can't wait to stop using magic numbers for padding buttons!
11.12.2024 17:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Gonna plug my own spin on it. And also, another thought, "Byu" would be phonetically similar to how Beautifly, a butterfly Pokรฉmon, is pronounced.
11.12.2024 11:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I feel like the only reason they keep bringing it back is because it has proven time and time to be a very effective way to distract the masses from the underlying issues that led to such a violent incident.
Folks just start mocking that notion instead of delving into said issues...
In a twist of fate, I'm going to have to learn to use PHP and Moustache for a MediaWiki site.
10.12.2024 01:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I used to enjoy OAuth but have started preferring using a password manager instead simply because of that scenario you mentioned.
04.12.2024 09:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There's so much circumstantial truth to this. When costs eventually become a problem, anything relying on AI will become forbiddingly expensive to upkeep.
04.12.2024 09:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0In allowing users to control what they see, Bluesky ends up allowing businesses to reach only interested audiences.
I'll go as far as to say that targeted ads have been snake oil all along and these platforms were never able to advertise products/services to people who'll convert.
So what I think I'm going to extrapolate from this is that targeted ads don't work.
X and Threads think they know what users want to see and try to sell the idea that it leads to better conversions, but reality says otherwise.
I've only just started @bell.bz's Complete CSS but I'm beginning to think "Complete" is used as a verb instead of an adjective.
There's more being taught to complete your capabilities with CSS than just CSS itself.
@imlunahey.com Saw that you've been cleaning up your following list of inactive accounts. Might I suggest pruning bot accounts, like this one, which uses generated AI replies on practically everything too?
26.11.2024 10:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Video aside, right now, AI is like the know-it-all menace in the room who has the largest collection of jargon in their vocabulary and manages to sound smart and coherent despite making things up on the fly.
I don't wish that to be the future.
I just watched this video, which sums up my feelings about generative AI, at least where programming is concerned.
26.11.2024 09:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0And now I'm just wondering if butterflies go byu...
19.11.2024 08:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I feel like it sounds kinda cute too?
"Check out my latest byu!"
Perhaps imbyu is too much of a mouthful so this works and sounds good too:
"Got an idea? Just byu it."
I also like how rebyu sounds for reposts.
I think I'm just rambling now.
Just a random thought while commuting:
Would it be nice to name posts "Byus", and the act of posting "Imbyuing" like "imbuing"?
I originally thought of "imbue" but "bue" as the term has similar slang issues like "skeet", so I figured the phonetic spelling is better.
I think I'm not gonna see the light of day this weekend when this game just updated today. Be warned, incredibly addictive even if you know nothing about the characters.
15.11.2024 09:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0At the very least, it makes sense why subjectively undesirable content from a niche community tends to appear on the Discover feed since that particular content may have high engagement within its niche circles.
So until you engage enough, Discover's algo can't figure it out and shows them.
The Following feed is chronological unless you enable the feature to show posts from some of your other subscribed feeds.
I'm guessing posts feel long-lived for now due to a steady flow of new users, and posts from high-engagement users like @imlunahey.com tend to appear for them.
