I mean, this is the obvious answer, right? In fact, they should all collude to do this, right? They're acting like he's got an attention to detail that will clue him in to whether or not they're wearing those shoes but not one that shows him that he got the sizes totally wrong.

I don't know, man. I read "unknown projectile" and I think of whatever the hell John Bigbooté spat out at Rawhide during the Yoyodyne raid in Grovers Mills.

Stephen Miller "facing harassment in Northern Virginia" the same way that Jose Altuve "faces harassment" in Yankee Stadium or Dodger Stadium.

I like the Stones just fine, and I like the Stones' version of this toxic masculinity anthem just fine (overlooking the toxic masculinity as possible), but I both vastly prefer The Who to the Stones and prefer the Who's version of this to the Stones' version.

Yes. We did various analyses before DART was approved. Didymos was moved _away_ from Earth, albeit very very slightly. The perihelion distance increased from 1.01295 to 1.01308 AU (a bit less than 20,000 km).

Natural non-gravitational forces overwhelm the DART perturbation on long timescales.

Also gotta say that I miss when "likely best accumulation of US-born baseball talent ever assembled in an international competition loses big to Italy and maybe fails to advance out of the first round" would be the biggest national humiliation of the year rather than not making the top 5 this week.

If the US team doesn’t make it out of the pool stage because Italy beats them too badly….big yikes.

Hang on. I am given to understand that Italy is beating the USA 8-0 tonight in the World Baseball Classic?

Starbuck - Moonlight Feels Right YouTube video by s e r g o l

I get asked sometimes* if I remember the 70s and what they were like. This video, of a song that should really be the official Maryland state song, encapsulates the 1970s.

OK, I've concluded that the next thing that has to happen is me eating frozen custard, so I'm going to get right on that.

this junkballing Czech electrician is a folk hero in Japan for striking out Ohtani in the last WBC (stopped for photos/autographs etc) but he's retiring after this bc Czech league ball doesn't pay the bills.
I love the way he took in in this one last surreal moment before going back to normalcy

Amazing set of preprints up today for everyone's favourite interstellar comet, 3I/ATLAS!
Three different teams use three different telescopes to measure 3I's composition in water, nitrogen & carbon. The isotope ratios suggest 3I comes from a truly ancient star 🧪🔭☄️

Obviously, the feat of having both a home run and outfield assist in the same game should be known as "an Andreoli".

If you need jars, lids, or other canning supplies, we have just what you need. Alternately, if you need instruments and subsystems for space telescope or other aerospace applications, we can do that too, says Ball.

I grew up listening to White, Rizzuto, and Messer, and that already made him a Hall of Famer in my eyes. Of course, he did a lot more than that. :)
