Yep. They can’t seem to understand why a community full of artists wouldn’t be welcoming to a brand that uses genAI :/

It’s so insulting they even applied when the fandom is so full of talent they could’ve actually been commissioning artists for their packaging, instead of yknow. Shitting their entire brand out a machine and taking space from real, actual artists

Oh man, well thank you for letting me know. I hadn’t heard anything new, just wanted to clarify about my post

As far as I know there’s currently no AI being sold at this years event. This was just continued irritation that the con has different standards and biases for people who don’t do the work or are up to standard for a “competitive” event

The issue that the con re admitted this vendor, even after they sold AI, even with a portfolio shows none of what they actually sell, because they “did work for the con”. Meanwhile, actual artists and crafters are held to an entirely different standard via jurying and many don’t get in

Hey! So just to clarify (if this is about TFF’s recent statement on AI!) that the vendor who was selling AI was instructed to remove it after backlash in 24’. The issue I was referencing here was that the vendor was again let in for TFF 25’, despite their merch the prior year being poorly sourced

My partner thinks cons should have an event that’s basically a thunderdome type deal where you can get in the ring to settle personal beefs with other people

Did you know? The kibori kuma, meaning carved wooden bear, is a popular souvenir from Hokkaido! These sculptures traditionally feature a bear catching salmon

Inspired by a trip to Hokkaido and the state I called my home for almost 20 years, these are some concepts for a West Virginia version 😝

Oh I meant it’s hard to plan an exact date to set for a firing bc everything I hand paint takes too long. But it will also maybe push me to get stuff done? Hard to say. Fear.

Studio wants me to set a date for a special firing, bc I paint things it takes me an obscene amount of time. Maybe…… maybe having a set date will help motivate me?

Plants are more resilient than you’d think. Over the last decade of having them, I’ve not been the best plant keeper but I’ve learned so much. It’s as relaxing a hobby as it is wildly frustrating but you can’t help feel satisfied when something grows :)

My begonia Ferox died all the way back and I was devastated. But the rhizome still looked good, so I continued to tend to the plant anyways. And! LEAVES!!!

Most likely it was a combination of thrips, and I moved it to a drafty location it wasn’t keen on. Seems to be happy where I have it now?

They’re greedy little bastards is all I can say!! Save some of that leaf juice for the plants!

I’ve been dealing with pests (thrips), a threat I didn’t even consider until it got bad enough to notice. It makes me feel a tad better that none of my plants actually died. The ones that look worst, however, I’m hoping will bounce back with a combo of ferts, repotting and attentiveness

Echeveria purpusorum in spike 😀

I always think about the very high, very well meaning plant store man who explained to me that succulents only very rarely bloom indoors. Little did he know I read ancient tomes of forbidden secrets to all my plants before bed each night

I’ve never had jet lag kick my butt so hard, it’s taken me a full month to start working again without taking a hundred naps a day. Here is another cave lion mug WIP!
