Trump’s EV detour would cost Canadians, but only if we follow him While certain politicians to the south are making a misguided detour when it comes to EVs, Canada can still drive forward with a clear and long-term view.

🇨🇦📈 "With global clean energy investment exceeding 2 trillion last year—over $750 billion of which went to electrified transport—the prize is too big to lose," writes Clean Energy Canada's @racheldoran.bsky.social and @joannakyriazis.bsky.social.

The results from BloombergNEF's 2024 lithium-ion battery price survey are out. Lithium-ion battery pack prices dropped 20% from 2023 to a record low of $115 per kilowatt-hour. This is the largest decline observed in our survey since 2017. 🧵⬇️

How this School is Saving Money and The Planet YouTube video by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan

Less money spent on energy bills = more money for books, technology and teaching.

See how our funding for heat pumps, insulation and solar panels could help schools across London move away from fossil fuels and save money.

The United States is now producing enough domestic solar to cover nearly all annual deployment. That's what policy can do, folks! And a majority of these jobs are in Republican districts.

Spain introduces paid climate leave after deadly floods Government approves up to four days of paid leave so workers can avoid travelling during weather emergencies

In Spain, the “government has approved “paid climate leave” of up to 4 days to allow workers to avoid travelling during weather emergencies, a month after floods killed at least 224 people… The new measure aims to “regulate in accordance with the climate emergency” so that “no worker must run risks”

Have we been duped by the primary energy fallacy? Whenever I post something on renewable energy on social media it never takes long for negative comments to arrive in my feed. One type of…

“Can the grid handle all those electric cars?”—> “Why have we been wasting 40% of the energy we use on inefficient technologies?”

Electric cars= 3x more efficiency than internal combustion engine.

Not to suggest change is easy but electric future=efficient future.

We all need to become eco-populists. That means championing policies that significantly lower daily costs while lowering emissions. Heat Pumps for All, alongside much more robust tenant rights; free and better public transit; price caps on green energy; make polluters pay for the transition.

I always thought that industry had limited electrification potential.

How wrong I was:

Once we looked into it in more detail we found that the potential for industrial electrification is huge.

90% of industrial process heat could be electrified in Europe by 2035.
