Going to the movies "getting worse" is obviously not just ticket prices, audience behavior, movie quality, or theater quality. It's traffic congestion, grocery prices, commute times, diversification of entertainment, media illiteracy, cultural mores, longer work days, suburban and urban sprawl etc.

yeahhhhh, i want to give it the benefit of the doubt just in the sense of having not seen it and not wanting to automatically deem choices made in the act of adaptation inherently bad, but i believe in the film he is haunted by his inaction which just feels like a very "now" pivot

a great piece that engages with the game on its own level (tying its themes into current anxieties and offers historical context) instead of projecting superiority onto it (as many others have) AND also insightfully critiques reactionary responses to games (that has been exhaustingly prevalent here)

not a judgment on the film, which i have not seen. just more of a broader observation. on a related note, enjoying mr. scorsese as a thorough and mostly surface level dive into him and his work, but the throughline of depicting true sin & from the inside. yes, thank you, sir, it's why you're goated
