"Waiting for the Daylight" — a vibrant 24 x 36-inch painting in acrylics, oil, and oil pastel on stretched canvas by Roman the Painter. Towering sunflowers dominate the foreground, their heavy heads bowed and turned as if anticipating the sunrise. Bold, expressive brushwork and rich pastel marks build layers of saturated color — deep teals and purples in the shadows, fiery oranges and yellows in the petals, and unexpected pops of coral and red through the leaves. Behind the sunflowers, a dramatic sky transitions from a soft peach and pink horizon to swirling purple clouds and deep turquoise, suggesting the last moments before dawn.
