At this critical moment, we recognize the extraordinary dedication and sacrifice of those deployed abroad. They serve with courage under immense pressure.

The situation in the Middle East is grave and evolving rapidly. In response to US and Israeli strikes, Iran responded by attacking its Arab neighbors. That was certainly a choice. As regional partners remain on high alert, my thoughts are with the brave American service members in harm’s way.

I am formally requesting the Departments of Defense and State to fully brief Congress on the rapidly evolving situation in Iran.

This is a serious moment that demands full transparency and congressional oversight.

There’s a lot of verbs and adjectives to describe the President’s speech. Unifying is not one of them.

South Florida’s strength comes from the people who build it, lead it, and serve it. This Black History Month, I want to recognize several outstanding leaders whose work strengthens Palm Beach and Broward Counties:

Today, we honor his memory not just with words, but by continuing the work of building a country that truly reflects those ideals.

Rest in peace, Reverend.

He dedicated his life to pushing America to live up to its founding creed that all are created equal and endowed with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He worked tirelessly to move our nation closer to that promise, and our world is better because of it.

When George Washington voluntarily stepped aside after two terms, he showed a world dominated by kings and emperors that America would be different.

Here, government is entrusted to the people, and power is limited by principle.

I pray no other community ever has to endure that kind of loss. Please keep the loved ones we lost in your hearts today, and let’s recommit to building a future where tragedies like this never happen again.

Eight years ago, Parkland was forever changed. Seventeen of our neighbors were taken from us at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and our community has carried that pain ever since.

The video that was shared from the White House today is one of the most vile things I’ve seen in a long time. There’s no place for that racist bigotry in the White House and I hope the person responsible is fired immediately.

I urge the Administration to work with Congress on a lasting solution that strengthens our communities instead of tearing them down.

But let’s be clear: the underlying policy is still wrong. Haitian TPS holders are legal workers who power our health care system in South Florida. Ending TPS would not make us safer. It would mean fewer caregivers, higher costs, and longer wait times for patients. That’s not smart policy.

I’m relieved that a federal judge has temporarily blocked the termination of TPS for Haitians. This ruling provides critical relief for roughly 350,000 Haitian TPS holders who faced losing their status today.

Show us where the roughly $170 billion already funded has been spent on, stabilize FEMA, and stop the havoc across DHS.

I voted no. Under Kristi Noem, FEMA is being gutted, ICE is over stepping its mandate, and the disaster-assistance backlog is exploding while Congress is left in the dark about where prior funding went. This is clear mismanagement, not underfunding.

If DHS truly needs more money, they can submit a targeted supplemental request to Congress and justify the requested funds. Until that happens, I am a no on additional funding for DHS.
