This election is proof that you do not need to pay attention to what the papers say. They are, as someone so eloquently put it, like a dying wasp.

The only time I hear about the papers is when we're moaning about them here. They are irrelevant.

The Irish state's role in housing today is to create scarcity. That is what the funds want. There is no such thing as a capitalist solution to a social necessity. Every time you blame a migrant for this crisis, a capitalist angel gets its wings.

Based on the number of people I’ve seen posting racist, far right content we should maybe ban the over 50s too.

Self-medicating like this is known in the trans community as DIY HRT

there's a local kebab place whose website claims to have a PDF of the menu, but when you open the PDF it's just a single photo of a kebab and chips

Once I went to a municipal beach club in Portugal where the council served beer, wine, food that you could eat on a sun lounger. Glad to see the notion of public luxury making its way to DCC gyms.

In an ever worsening housing crisis, SinnFein should be out chatting all day and all night about housing. What the Supreme Court says about a law that doesn’t apply anywhere on this island, should be none of their or our concern. Average rent in Belfast and Dublin is clean mad and getting worse

More than 50,000 staff now employed in Civil Service New figures show number of civil servants has increased by about 16,000 in last decade

"All sectors of the public service, except defence, now employ more people than in 2013".

Yeah it's almost as if the recruitment freezes, pressured retirements and other staff cuts during austerity were a bad thing that needed to corrected almost immediately?

Can’t believe we’re getting mugged so badly. Last time I had to access emergency healthcare I was in the North and they just fixed me and sent me on my way no questions asked.

Maybe I’m just out of practice with the healthcare system but I had to see a doctor to get emergency medicine yesterday (read: emergency) and the whole experience from being seen to getting a prescription set me back €120???

Screenshot of an ad by Ryanair with a photo of a sandy beach.

Text reads "THERE'S MORE TO MOROCCO, VISIT DAKHLA"

Below the picture reads: "Picture this. Endless golden sands, the sound of waves crashing, the Atlantic breeze in your hair. Welcome to Daklha, Morocco's best-kept secret."

This is bad even by Ryanair's standards.

The airline recently announced it will start flying to Dakhla, which is part of Occupied Western Sahara.

Calling it Morocco is reinforces Morocco's claim that it owns Western Sahara.

More the occupation is Morocco's dirty little secret.

Yis don't trust evoting machines to calculate PR-STV transfers quickly but you'll let AI decide a young person's future. Hmm.

NEW: Two-thirds of NYC voters support creating municipal grocery stores to bring down prices.

"The concept is imminently feasible. In fact, publicly owned grocery stores are quite common and already exist at scale—in the US military."

Why do only half of Irish fathers take paternity leave? ‘Flat rate’ payment in Ireland means many fathers can’t afford to take time off work

“unless their employer tops up the €289 benefit payment, and there is no legal requirement on them to do so, few fathers can vindicate their right to time off work to care for their babies at one of the most expensive times for a young family”, Ictu said.

I think covid pulled some kinda psychic ripcord for anyone already primed for political derangement. The combinaton of social isolation and algorithm-driven radicalization just broke people. Everyone I talk to has a story of some relative that nobody talks to anymore.
