Indeed. I'm not even sure if anyone is actually operating driverless cars/vans/buses without drivers yet in this state too
Good point. I'm not sure if the tunnels are big enough for these AVs. Plus long tunnels can be challenging for autonomous vehicles.
Then again, if they are building stations, wouldn't a new, expanded driverless people mover using that ROW work better?
Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.
A PIT Airport Town Center? Autonomous Bus Shuttles? Anything but better transit access and experiences at PIT I see.
Also, will the Town Center include transit? I don't see this being covered in the Bus Line Refresh...

If there was a small city/county GIS support network ESRI would be in shambles already
Active and public transport complement each other. "We need transit, not bike lanes!" is wrecker shit. We need both.
Cycle lanes, electric cars and other interventions have helped 19 global cities slash levels of pollutants by more than 20%, including London, San Francisco and Beijing
I loved this song, though I haven't heard much else from this band! I used to love listening to it on DC 101
“Because cycling enabled me to connect to the disability community, my understanding of transportation needs is broader, and I use this knowledge to be a better advocate for transportation infrastructure that better meets everyone’s needs.” Via @bikehfxlobby.bsky.social
The people who say "the US iS too big for train travel", seem to be unaware there already is a network of passenger rail btw most major cities.
It has issues with speed and reliability mainly from being forced to share tracks with freight (itself an argument for trains), that is a solvable problem.
Remember that Pennsylvania legislators couldn't care less that SEPTA and most agencies in Pennsylvania have massive budget deficits and are on the brink of major service reductions. The mindset: just raise the fares dramatically (& privatize) to cover the full cost of operations with no subsidy. 😒
Thankfully we have so many outstanding coffee shops in Pittsburgh! I definitely need to make it out for one of the Give Up rides to the coffee shop
Aggressive driver aside, a taco bike tour sounds amazing! 🤩🤩 We sadly don't have great tacos in #Pittsburgh though 😫
Hmm- that's a good idea! I actually haven't used Turo yet myself. I wonder how much easier it would be as a customer compared to the rental car office
I've been on the fence of getting a car again for a while. I don't want the stresses and extreme expenses of car ownership again, but the alternate systems (car rental, Amtrak, Greyhound, Zipcar) have been essentially unusable lately. Where's the balance when I don't NEED a car for daily use?

Isaly’s will be back in business in Pittsburgh this coming summer in the city’s Strip District. Last spring,…
Oh wow! This still is very European styled. I wonder how the Seattle and NYC battery electric bus orders may change from this design. #Solaris #Vancouver #Trolleybus
That is very intriguing! But then what if there are pairing issues, or worse (?), someone accidentally validates their fare for a passing bus they don't wish to ride? 🤔
That's my life long dream! 🤩 At least for home lines I would regularly ride.
I almost experienced that with the 87 when I was able to commute during rush hour when it ran every 8 minutes, but that was a shortly lived experience
I've lived most my life in places where 30 service is considered good and "frequent", compared to the base hourly (or worse) service.
Even with #Pittsburgh PRT's Bus Line Refresh they are dubbing 20 frequency as their "frequent" service network. 😕 It's better than hourly at least!
The first time I've been pleased to see a "Bike Lane Ends" sign.
I wish there had been a better option to this that was chosen. On a fun note, at the Philly Home Expo there's a group that encourages bike touring of Jamaica.

We also need to call out anti-bag policies as well. When places don't let me bring in bags, what are we supposed to do, just leave them on our bike full of stuff? Those of us on bikes don't have the luxury of a locked steel cage to store stuff like drivers do.
It all happened so fast.

The #TransitCat of the day wants you to know that every sidewalk bicyclist is a vote for protected bike lanes.*

I think today's DC Metro may do this today. At least on the Metrorail
