Erroll Southers, a controversial appointment to the LAPD commission, was approved by the LA City Council today.

But it was done in an unusual way -- it was allowed to run out the clock by the council failing to do anything by today's deadline to act on.

Meanwhile, the donors that responded to me said they were donating to Hernandez because of local issues, and their support of her is not tied to Israel.

Things got heated between two of the candidates vying for state Senator Maria Elena Durazo's seat.

Mayor Bass has now confirmed in a statement that she asked that SB 423, which would cap the Measure ULA "mansion tax," be continued so that it can be reintroduced in January.

The tax has been a source of funding for affordable housing, and programs to protect tenants.
