Really interesting learning about Pope Leo's Creole heritage from New Orleans. Genealogical records (familysearch website) also indicate maternal ties to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba and reveal shifting racial identities in the family, moving from "mulatto," to "Black," to "white."

Waking up and learning about the death of Pope Francis. What a tremendous loss, not only for the Roman Catholic Church, but for the world.
