This can get tricky especially in social work settings where a CM is required to make a report that they know will involve police, especially when the victim has police-related trauma. But I was shocked to hear Kiara say they can’t report without proof. That’s wrong, & it’s a dangerous misconception

Folks feeling like they need proof of suspected abuse before reporting contributes to a lack of reporting. Again, it is not the responsibility of the reporter to prove the validity of the claim.

I watched e7 of The Pitt last night so just a reminder it’s not a mandatory reporter’s responsibility to prove abuse/neglect, but it IS their job to report any and all suspected cases. Permission from supervisors is not needed to report. Mandatory reporters report, & the investigators investigate.

He is so gross! I am rooting for his downfall.

I like them but I can’t pay attention to the story and whatever I’m doing, unless it’s a mindless thing like taking a shower or riding the bus. Maybe when I get more experienced with crochet I can handle an audio book at the same time though!

I know the month isn’t over yet, but I also know I won’t finish another book until February. So, here’s what I read in January.

You’re welcome. If I hear anything different, I’ll let you know. We’ve already had 3 all-staff emails in the past week to assuage fears about executive orders coming out, and I’m sure we’ll have many more in the coming months. They want to exhaust and terrify us - let’s try not to let them. 💜

I work in Medicaid. We’ve been told that the funding pause will not stop Medicaid payments. And Medicare (which is similar but different than Medicaid) is explicitly excluded from the pause, too. This is confusing and scary, but I think currently not a cause for total panic (tbd) 🥴

The "first they came..." poem gets quoted and quoted and quoted and quoted and you know what, we do in fact know who they're coming for first, right now, and that is trans people, and the answer needs to be "absolutely the fuck not, you motherfuckers," full stop.

How people dress, worship, love, speak, or whatever else, is up to them. So do your thing—as long as your thing doesn't hurt other people. If that isn't clear enough, again: we figure it out, together. 5. Dance, make music, write poetry, draw pictures, eat good food, love each other.

I started reading Not A Lot of Reasons to Sing, But Enough by Kyle Tran Myhre this morning and… yes, this part (no spoilers!). Music, art, love, joy, dancing, happy moments are resistance. (shout out @calvinrosscarl.bsky.social for prompting me to read this one)

Tonight I sat down to play bg3 for “a few minutes” before dinner and accidentally played for 3 hours.
