Romance has certainly come in for more than its share of vitriol, but not here and not now.
He may well be a testy, ungrateful bastard, but I can't speak to anything other than what was said in this now-disjointed thread, in which he specifically said he celebrates and sells romance. I am also happy to sell romance. The OP never said anything bad about romance per se either. Nor did I.
Then can you carefully point out where anyone has said anything negative about romance?
It seems that way only to you. No one in the thread, not the OP, not Brad, not me, has said anything negative about romance. The comments all refer to new stores that stock a very narrow range of wares and follow popular trends.
Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, you have to walk into ours
I read no contempt here for anything but homogeneity. And why focus only on romance genre when cozy cat cafe books also need defending?
Hey, that new bookstore art we mentioned is now available on merch. Order early and often!

Honestly, if book curation were a Winter Olympic sport, we’d be Norway.
Our fair city is turning 262, so we and our good friends at Clements are throwing a party! There will be themed drink specials all evening, and we’ll be on hand with books, performative excerpts, and city trivia. Our Grand/Cherokee collabs have become quite the popular scene, so don’t miss this one!
From our vantage at the intersection of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, even the title is disturbing.

Noticing that Wikipedia calls the movie a "crime drama," which sure? Like Gravity's Rainbow is a history of rocketry.
If it reaches Peter Greenaway superfans, they'll remind you that it's The Cook, the Thief, HIS Wife, &HER Lover
While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.
Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.

With Holocaust Remembrance Day coming up next week, James (perhaps unwisely) handed me the @leviathanbookstore.bsky.social newsletter reins. (You subscribe, right?)
