Like tiny alien trees, strange cylinders with a smooth and metallic-like surface standing on short white stalks grow along decaying wood. They reflect a range of colors from purple, to blue, and green. The background of the photo is a combination of soft dark and light green from distant plants. These little things are about 1mm tall.
