My 2nd turned 1 recently. Honestly, very slowly, but you get there one day lol. I also found that having a second made my first want to be more independent, and she also wanted to help out with the baby. ymmv.

Honestly though, some of the most important rpg manuals I've read are ones I've rarely or even never played. Some games have great ideas to incorporate into ones own play style and writing. Ryuutama for instance made me a much better GM and player.

This is why I simp Ryuutama super hard for new GMs. I love that it comes with sheets for the world building, encounters, scenarios, towns. I wish more games would do this.

Yeah, I'm all about flexing a system into what you need in a pinch, My group has done some interesting system transfers over the years. However there needs to be a certain degree of compatibility between the rules and the desired genre.

Confession: I am obsessed with black and white rpg manuals. I like them more than the premium full color books. I think they're gorgeous and very legible. Some faves are Cyberpunk 2020, OWoD, Necronica, and Ryuutama.

Anyone got recs for gorgeous B&W manuals?

I think ttrpg players are incredibly diverse actually. I'd even say that's the appeal. Everyone brings different stuff to the table.

I refuse to buy or make anything until at least 3-4 sessions of any campaign/chronicle. I've been burned too many times. Even that isn't perfect, but it cuts down on the losses.

The best Bard class might be from Sword World 2.5, but World of Darkness does it well too with some creativity so maybe Hunter: the Reckoning? I think anything that specific would need some house rules.

My cyberpunk character fumbled a check to climb a mountain and sprained his ankle. His wife had to carry him to the destination.

I definitely feel like it creates a lot of pressure. I've had many people suggest my spouse and I stream our games, but I enjoy playing for myself and enjoy my privacy.

26: Nemesis
My Godbound character's main goal is to kill his father (a god) to get revenge for the death of his mother. Time is running short though. Had to start a real plan last night so I can orchestrate this massive ordeal. Never had a real nemesis before. It's very intense! #ttrpg

Space Westerns are just so fun. Recently played one and it was a huge hit, even got a second season.

It's a really good game. I have to try really hard not to reinstall is so I can plink away at my game backlog.

The VtM supps have lots of good stuff to pull from honestly, my faves are Clanbooks/lore of the clans and Giovani Chronicle. Also def play VtM: Bloodlines if you haven't.

For media: Interview with the Vampire(honestly all the books from that set if you got time), Vampire Hunter D, Dracula Untold

I wish someone had told me cause I showed up to a PF game with a mostly boring and normal character. My SO showed up as a male hair witch that rode on a gecko. I felt so lame lol.

I hate spending prolonged amounts of time in the middle of nowhere wilderness. I prefer civilizations and being among the NPCs and their daily drama.

See if you can try it before you buy. Played with a group of friends and honestly none of the players had fun since one guy picked it up. It was just a long, long night of whiffing every roll. The success curve isn't great. Got dropped after one adventure. We liked L5R so it took us by surprise.

Day 8: Explore

I play more than I GM. I like exploring characters and exploring myself through my characters. I lay out flaws (oft my own) and try to make a character arc out of them. It's interesting to see how they interact with worlds so different from my own.

Yes, I mostly write horror so making sure there's points of tension and release is important for the impact I want. Sometimes sadness too. Music helps a lot with this when setting a tone for a scene for me.

The hardest part is a lot of women want you to have a woman in the group already (I get it) so no one wants to be the first woman. If you get the first woman though the floodgates open. Then it turns out they, "the first woman" were the "in fact a man waiting to happen" all along.

OMG is that why i keep seeing insta posts I can't actually look at lol?! Thank you for explaining this! I'll have to do the same. I don't have an insta account.
