There are some things we now know to not be the case, such as Thomas' buffers not being from Marklin, but it's fair to say that after more than 40 years, not all details will be remembered exactly.
Also, as we know, Gordon's pilot model was finished and used, but perhaps he didn't see it himself.

Also, just to clarify, David did allow me to share his photos, I would not have posted them without his permission, it was one of the first things I asked him when I emailed him about them.
He was kind enough to lend them to me for a few days so I could scan them, then they went back to him.

For the technical specs of the restoration. These were 5 1/2 inch by 3 inch optical prints that were scanned with an Epson V600 dedicated scanner at 2400 DPI, which for the size of the prints, made for a 12k wide scan.
The final size is 6K wide, as they aren't sharp enough to need to stay at 12K.

Offered in these folders are all three stages of the restoration process. The raw scans that have only been cropped, the colour correction stage, and finally, the cleaned and finished photographs.
There is even a bonus photograph of the PPL workshop where the models for series 2 were made.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Reverend Awdry's magnificent books that led to a brilliant TV series, I am pleased to share 27 newly scanned and restored photographs taken of the TV series models by model maker David Payne on the morning series 1 began filming.
