In my experience there was a lot more of it when I first joined this platform. But maybe it just depends on your followers?

Yes, it's a stark difference compared to when I just joined this platform, which isn't even that long ago. So sad!

I've got a 45-50 minute book talk ready to go on my 2024 blockbuster 'Onomantic Divination in Late Medieval Britain'. Want me to come give a talk for expenses? Email via website, link in bio. #MedievalSky

And, yes, I am aware that academia and politics aren't two strictly separated "entities."

Is it just my feed, or is there less and less academic (and more political) content being shared on here than there used to be? I miss it! 🗃️ #SkyStorians

Normally, I would do that, but it's too early to do so—the risk with being too specific or making too many promises when the conference isn't exactly around the corner is that you'll set a trap for yourself.

Yeah, I think that's the problem I'm having. I'm already editing (and judging) the abstract before I have gotten all of my thoughts written down. Maybe I should indeed just write it all first.

#SkyStorians I have a writer's block re: drafting an abstract for a conference. I have so many sentences/ideas/arguments in my head....having written them down (in various iterations) so often in the last couple of months, they now seem meaningless
Any suggestions for how to get unblocked?

Picture of a bike waiting in front of a traffic light, with the Isartor in Munich in the far distance.

When the museum lends you one of their bikes to use, so you can cycle through Munich ❤️ I’m in heaven!Feeling like a kid in a candy store! 😍

COVER REVEAL. Really excited to show off the fantastic cover for my new book Sniff from @yalebooks.bsky.social. It’s a history of smells across time and space and hits the shelves on the 8th September. Pre-order from Yale, your local bookshop, or the usual suspects! yalebooks.co.uk/book/9780300...

Reposting this. I have two scholars for this panel so far and need a third. If you're doing work work on the 1570s and want to be in Chicago next October, please send me a DM.

Bike parking at a station in Munich—reminiscent of those we have in the Netherlands.

First day in Munich and („you can take the girl out of the Netherlands but you cannot take the Netherlands out of the girl“ 🇳🇱) I’m already loving it ❤️🚴

I'm sure it does, haha, but I'm going for the objects (or better yet, for the screws) 😍

I'll do my best! 🙂 Though Munich doesn't have as many old buildings as Nuremberg.

I have yet to experience a "quiet" coach, despite me always booking a seat in it to work in peace. There's always someone having a phone call ("it won't take long"), whose kid's playing a videogame on speaker ("it's a child"), or people chatting loudly ("if it bothers you, go sit elsewhere").

Detail of wormholes below printed text, one of which has been decorated by hand with a small doodle around the hole

When life gives you woodworms, go ahead and decorate the holes!

Home ❤️ I grew up with this #Medievalsky church & have seen its use change over time: I've celebrated Carnival here, marvelled at a snake exhibit, and stored my bike there. But its present use is hands down my favorite—celebrating both books & he historical structure within which they are housed 🗃️ 📚

5 Classes I took as an undergrad:

1. History of Ideas, Philosophy & Ethics
2. Knowledge and Criticism (History of Science)
3. History of Technology
4. Philosophy of Mind
5. Sociology of Science (independent study)

These were coupled w/ (required) research & writing skills-training classes.
