Picked up Usagi Yojimbo: Kaitō '84 #1 to try out a series I’ve heard good things about.
It didn’t disappoint.
Kaitō and the ever-hungry Yukichi cause good trouble as they try to protect people, but are hired to steal an ancient spear before a rival gang does.
Enjoyed both the story and art.
Wait, I’ve seen all this before — Return to 9/11: The Sequel
A story in four parts. 😭
BuzzFeed dying after chasing profits into a sinkhole vs. Gawker getting killed for challenging entrenched power is the perfect conclusion to the 2010s content philosophy wars.
There is so much to roll back and fix when this madness ends. This is straight out of dystopian fiction… but it’s here. Now.
F that guy
And that each crisis is an opportunity to grift
one page rpg:
winston churchill vs one otter
you are winston churchill at 90 years of age, and you have been confronted by a single otter. you have four moves: alcohol, genocide by starvation, speeches, and being mean to guests at dinner. the otter has one move, which is to bite you in the ass
Have recently had a similar revelation: I don’t want to replace my old and awesome fridge with a shittier modern unit. I don’t need everything in my car computerized.
I recently inherited an ‘07 Honda Odyssey and the lo-fi experience is pretty awesome.
More of that, please.
I swear the cross species resemblance is incredible
“Greatyear”
Really dug the series!
Can this be a solution?
Incredible statistic that so many televisions in America have their channels stuck on CBS.
This new Usagi Yojimbo comic I picked up today looks like a lot of fun. Can’t wait to read it while listening to the Miami Vice soundtrack 😁
one upside of all of this is the revelation that the swinging dick bankers and big rah rah capital execs and billionaires are actually meek little scared dogs and president AOC or whoever (god willing) should walk them on a leash and make them drink out of a bowl
IN STORES NOW!
“…It’s strong, intriguing character work from Rosenberg, and it gives Cullum space to do expressive, memorable cartooning for Kaitō... Cullum’s depiction of Osaka in 1984 is dense, vibrant, and recalls a terrific Japanese neo-noir from the era…” -AIPT comics
Super stoked to see this review at @comicsbeat.bsky.social!
@comicnerd1988.bsky.social and @jaredcullum.bsky.social have so much love for Stan Sakai’s Usagi and it shows!

💀WHOA HEY, IT'S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY ON WEDNESDAY💀
I hope everyone remembered to spring their clocks forward in order to have an extra hour of daylight to read comic books (that's what daylight savings time is for, right?).
This week, we've got X-Men United #1, Usagi Yojimbo: Kaitō '84 #1, and more!
It’s a beaut!
Oh wow, I had not made the connection!
If John le Carré were alive his next book might be "At the Request of Karla."
One Book, One Coast, a shared reading initiative connecting 140+ library systems across Calif, Oregon, and Washington, has selected "They Called Us Enemy,” the graphic memoir by George Takei to consider "civil liberties, democracy, and what it means to be American — both historically and today."
