William Morris - the poetry, the printing press, tapestries and also art. Not a novel, but an important revival - including re-fashioned suits of armour. The C20th wouldn't have happened without Morris and Co.

A miniature diorama showing what looks at first like a surgical scene but instead of patients, it's dumplings that are being stuffed by a surgeon in blue scrubs.

The world is a dark and dreary place these days, so here’s something to cheer you up: a miniature diorama by Japanese artist, Tanaka Tatsuya.

A song thrush perched high up in the willow tree at the bottom of the garden by John Gould, Birds of Great Britain, London, 1873.

‘Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind
Cannot bear very much reality.
Time past and time future
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.’ ~ Eliot, Burnt Norton, Four Quartets.

‘The normal should be darkness’: why one Belgian national park is turning off ‘pointless’ streetlights The radical project is an attempt to preserve wildlife in one of Europe’s most light-polluted countries, but can they persuade local people they will still feel safe?

Safety is important, but in my experience, once I got used to places that are extremely safe despite having no streetlights (e.g. Sark and certain Danish "sommerhusbyer") I stopped equating safety with streetlights - and started enjoying natural darkness ✨ 1/3

Marie is our Regional Support Officer & is fantastic.

Trade union victimisation is indefensible & abhorrent. To see it done by a union employer undermines the work of all trade unionists.

We have written to the GS to call for a stop to the victimisation and to settle the dispute.
