Magical night! We were able to enjoy the total lunar eclipse, through the penumbra, partial phase, and totality, until it became cloudy during the second partial phase.

Saturn, captured using my planetary camera. Low in the sky and quite affected by the atmosphere. In another week it'll be too light or low to capture it before the rings are side on (that happens next month). It'll be many months till it reappears as a morning planet.

Planet Parade! All four bright ones captured today (02.00 to 19.00) using different methods (see ALT notes). Jupiter (& Europa, Io & Callisto), Venus in its crescent form), Mars (with Castor & Pollux) defocused to reveal its redness & Saturn (with rings almost side on). #astronomy #astrophotography

Looks like I am expecting cloud for the Moons close pass of Mars tonight.

Please share your astrophotos with me for a repost! πŸ”

Cloud again here today - the Moon is on the other side of Jupiter tonight, roughly halfway to passing Mars (very bright and orange) which should happen tomorrow πŸ”

Hi Bluesky! I’ve been in a little social media lull because of how gross meta platforms feel and how TikTok feels a bit like a sham now. I’m not entirely sure where to go with my stuff but I still like it here at least :) #aurora #alaska #northernlights

Hi Peter, nice to see a familiar face on a new platform!

Have you still been keeping up with #sunhour and do you know if Claire or David have an account?

I'm hoping to get back in to my astrophotography again soon, I've recently moved house and all my kits been out of action for a while

Recently, my A-level Physics and #Astronomy enrichment students visited @uclan.ac.uk Alston Observatory.

But did you know they run open observation and lecture sessions every month?

You *might* even see the #MilkyWay - just a few miles from #Preston
