..she relays the horrific slaughter of Palestinians by Israel & the ongoing genocide of her people while the world watches. Yet each time she stands steadfast, & like all Palestinians, she will not cave, nor will her spirit be broken.

Stand with Palestine. Stand against genocide.

Her Excellency Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid the Palestinian Ambassador came to chat to our Young Greens at their AGM on Saturday.

I have always been in awe of Jilan's strength and courage while representing the people of Palestine but more so in the past two years than ever before. Each time I meet her..

The recent attack at the IPAS centre in Drogheda is shocking, but not surprising. Nor is the silence from those who shout the loudest about protection of women and children.

Government and Gardai have ignored far right violence and threats for too long โ€“ does someone have to die for it to be taken seriously?

Green Party Spokesperson for Justice Patrick Costello has issued a statement saying that the recent arson attack and attempted murder of IPAS residents in Drogheda shows how deep violence and hatred has infected Irish society and yet this doesnโ€™t seem a priority for Gardai or from Government.
Costello said โ€œThe attack in Drogheda is shocking, but not surprising. This government ignoring right wing violence has led us here, and without meaningful response will only lead to deaths.
Costello continued โ€œThere are growing number of vigilante groups setting up across the country with no response from Gardai. There is escalating attacks on migrants on our streets and increasing attacks on the LGBT Community and government donโ€™t respond. These emboldens those who wish to spread violence and hate.โ€
Costello highlighted the need for action, saying โ€œThere are clear drivers of hate that have not been addressed, such as holding social media companies to account when it comes to the spread of disinformation. There is more that can be done, like passing hate speech legislation. Communities need gardai to protect them, not turn a blind eye on vigilante mobs. The Minister has the power under Section 20 of Garda Sรญochรกna Act 2005 to make this issue a priority for Gardai and should use that power. The Minister must act now rather than wait for someone to dieโ€.

We see plenty of homes being built in Sandyford and the wider Dublin 18 area but where are the community facilities to match?

Imaginosity is now a vacant building here in BSQ in Sandyford Business District. The council need to be acting much faster to bring it into use as a community facility.

The Taoiseach creates a false choice here. Climate Action is about making life better, making energy cheaper, making our atmosphere cleaner.
But that requires leadership. We see none from this Government.

It is literally robbing Peter to pay Paul to offset lack of ambition in a sustainable future!

โ‚ฌ2.377bn for public transport vs โ‚ฌ1.724bn for roads in #budget26 is NOT a 2:1 investment ratio for public transport infrastructure over roads as previously committed.

The Government can claim the โ‚ฌ2bn for MetroLink more than balance that equation BUT the โ‚ฌ2 billion was taken from the 1/2

Despite ambitious promises in their manifestos and Programme for Government, the Government parties have failed to invest adequately in childcare in this Budget cycle.

2/2 operators got more so that they could survive.

That would have costed a fraction of spend. The remainder could have gone into a second tier child benefit to help the most marginalised. Or under 12 free travel. Or more childcare spaces.

But instead we wanted to support the Big Mac.

The truth is today's #budget2026 VAT cut at a cost of โ‚ฌ700m to the taxpayer would have helped my mum's now closed restaurant only a little.

What would have helped her & so many small restaurants a lot more was a sliding VAT rate. Where the likes of McDonald's get a lot less reduction & smaller 1/2

07.10.2025 15:40 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 8    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I still can't believe that they're doing this. Giving a massive VAT tax break that'll do very little for small cafรฉs and restaurants, while giving millions to big chains.

Weak, unfocused governance. They're too comfortable chucking out our tax money.

07.10.2025 12:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 30    ๐Ÿ” 11    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Over the summer, the Government raided the Climate & Nature fund to pay for gaps in their infrastructure bill. Today's Budget could have fixed that and committed new investment for nature and the environment.
Unfortunately, there has been no change in their approach. A wasted opportunity.

2/2 Go around the country and you will the blight on our communities from land hoarding.

With a stroke of a pen we are rolling over to developers, and rolling backwards on delivery of new housing.

We fought tooth and nail for the the Residential Land Tax for a reason. We knew that it was a game-changer for delivery of new land for much needed housing.

But this #budget2026 undercuts the RZLT by bringing in loopholes to allow more and more landowners to postpone payment. 1/2

07.10.2025 14:17 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 10    ๐Ÿ” 3    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The Residential Zoned Land Tax #RZLT is essential to take land hoarders to task and ensure that our many empty sites lying idle in the country are put to use.

Government loopholes are gutting the Land Hoarding Tax. Empty sites stay empty. Hoarders keep winning.

07.10.2025 12:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 16    ๐Ÿ” 12    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The Land-hoarding Tax (RZLT) was introduced last year. It's been a success. 2,000 returns filed. Over โ‚ฌ40 million eared to the State.
Why is the Government allowing another year for landowners to seek an exemption? Land zone for housing needs to be brought into use now.

07.10.2025 13:17 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 23    ๐Ÿ” 11    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It's official. They're giving big restaurant chains a massive tax cut, costing nearly โ‚ฌ700m in the #VAT cut to hospitality.

For that kind of money you could:

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Bring in a second tier of child benefit - lifting 55,000 children out of poverty
๐ŸšŒ Make public transport free

On this Budget Day, let's talk about childcare spaces or the lack thereof.

The State needs to become an Early Childcare Provider while working with private providers. This was the model we had started building that this Government is squandering.

Ireland's enviable budget surplus should be spent on essential capital infrastructure - that includes projects like DART+ and Metrolink, but also investment in public-built housing, water and energy infrastructure.
