Those people threw a “welcome back” gathering for me that filled me with #gratitude; continue to stand up and fight and lock arms to defend the LA we love; are what I’m thankful for this year and every year. It’s good to have friends everywhere and to be home. #ilovela #ihavefriendseverywhere

This Thanksgiving is the first I’ve spent in LA in a few years. As the daughter of immigrants, I’ve always felt that it’s people who make a place home.

Amazon Drives Low Wages: The Unraveling of Workplace Protections for Delivery Drivers - The Shift Project Read the Full Article Amazon has revolutionized shopping and challenged traditional brick-and-mortar retail. But at the heart of this logistics […]

Earlier this year, we put out a study together on how Amazon promotes deals while their drivers get a raw deal. The study we wrote, thanks to the terrific work of The Shift Project and to my time at the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School that gave me a chance to connect with them:

The unraveling of workplace protections for delivery drivers: A tale of 2 workplace models A first-of-its-kind study finds Amazon’s delivery drivers earn less and face more instability than their unionized counterparts.

Also thinking of the unionized workers whose jobs are threatened by Amazon’s race to the bottom.

On the biggest shopping day of the year, and as we head into the holiday shopping season, I’m thinking of the many workers who power Amazon, especially workers in warehouses who sort & move goods and drivers who deliver them who are struggling to get by.

What a year. Amidst chaos and cruelty, the clearest thing that came through from Selma to San Francisco, Amherst to Atlanta, New York to New Orleans, in Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Dallas, my home base of DC for 4 years and beyond, I’m incredibly grateful to have friends everywhere. #thanksgiving #grateful

Kent Wong Power As we began, we heard his voice, as we’d heard it over the decades. Rise up, rise unafraid. Rise up in spite of the ache.

Kent Wong was uniquely able to bring both humility and grandeur, to mix authenticity with majesty…at events, in organizing campaigns, and in life. Because of him, we know what we need to do, even though it hurts. juliesulabor.substack.com/p/kent-wong-...

What a cruel, sick joke DOGE was. It took a chainsaw to people’s lives, cut services, killed jobs, and had to lie about how much money it saved. Now it’s over but the harm it caused isn’t.

Affordability isn’t about a race to the bottom for cheap stuff and cheap labor. It’s about shared responsibility, corporate accountability, public investments in public goods, strong unions & workers with power, and jobs with dignity, security, and meaning.

Minister Diaz met with labor leaders, workers, and electeds across California last week. As the U.S. pretends that being anti-worker globally is somehow good for American workers, California can be a global leader with our int'l partners. Ministra, te agradezco por tu liderazgo y amistad. Adelante!

This was possible because of the incredible work of the dedicated career staff at the USDOL’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), work that has been so undermined by this administration.

Que gusto verte en Los Angeles, @yolandadiaz.bsky.social! With Labour Minister Diaz, we strengthened international efforts to combat worker abuse & misclassification, and addressed threats to worker safety that have no borders like heat and consolidation of power by multinational corporations.

As has always been true, the work of cities and states will be critical to the struggle for economic and racial justice, and The Century Foundation and I will be there for it.

What Labor Leaders and Policymakers Can Learn from Georgia Georgia labor leaders are used to fighting against the odds for workers' rights and racial justice.

Atlanta is showing that at a time of relentless attacks by our own federal government on our nation’s cities, the workers, unions, mayors, and community leaders in Georgia continue to hold the line and even to advance it.

How States Can Lead the Way for Workers A playbook for building fair pay, safe jobs, and worker power across the U.S.

As workers continue to lose ground in the face of relentless federal attacks, states can hold the line and even advance it. I joined EARNCon in New Orleans to unveil TCF’s State Playbook, written with Rachel West. These are high impact ideas where states are already leading and more can do so.

A good time to remember that the flight attendant, TSA officer, counter and gate agent, baggage handler, airport janitor isn’t the reason your flight is delayed.

Be kind to them. Let them know you see them. And thank them for working under these circumstances.

It's Jobs Day November 2025 We didn't get official jobs numbers, but we do have a picture of what’s happening with jobs in America and it’s not a pretty one.

We don’t have official jobs numbers this month because we are in the longest government shutdown ever but Trump doesn’t want these numbers out there anyway. #shutdown #JobsFriday

Omar Algeciras has spent his career at DOL making sure that workers get paid what they're owed. No worker should have to work without pay, but that's exactly what 700,000 federal workers have had to do for the last month.(🧵/1)
