Our struggles are linked. We must act accordingly. “History will judge us not just by whether we funded important work, but by whether we were wise enough to see the connections between crises and act accordingly.” 🔥
Please read this brilliant piece. Rini Chakraborty has persistently remade the landscape as a philanthropic and community leader but she points to where there is more to do and how to do it.
Such an honor to be the first Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice. It is both by definition and by breadth a reflection of @mayor.nyc.gov’s commitment to using every tool in this city’s portfolio to make life better for working class New Yorkers.
In 2015, Chinatown Tenants Union helped win the first rent freeze in 46 years.
Today, Deputy Mayor Julie Su is helping working-class families in Chinatown who are once again facing housing instability.

As acting U.S. Labor Secretary, I spent time with USW all across the country—from new members building school buses in Georgia to multi-generational union members proud to have produced the steel for U.S. ships, structures, and highways. Can’t wait to see & support what comes next, Madame President!
The ballroom in Pittsburgh was packed and electric with excitement. Grateful to be with @flyingwithsara.bsky.social, @katosquest.bsky.social, Ambassador Tai, and hundreds of other sisters and brothers.
President Roxanne Brown!! Congrats to my friend and history-making leader on her installation as International President of @steelworkers.bsky.social
Ringing in the year of the horse with @mayor.nyc.gov, CAAAV, the legendary May Chen, and the Chinatown Tenants Union. Some of these organizers are former garment workers!
Loved seeing @bradlander.bsky.social! I’ve welcomed him to the US Department of Labor and met with him in the White House. This time we were celebrating working people in Chinatown.
A wonderful night at the @wgaeast.bsky.social 78th Writers Guild Awards celebrating writers and the power of unions.
Thank you Tom Fontana and Sam Wheeler. Congratulations to all the nominees & honorees.
Writers give the best acceptance speeches!
We continue to build a team worthy of New Yorkers and the bold ambitions of the Mamdani administration. The latest addition is Diya Vij. Together we will make sure that art & artists are celebrated, culture and community are valued, and all of it creates more economic justice. Welcome aboard, Diya!
Heads up, New York families: time’s running out! Free 3-K and Pre-K enrollment closes 2/27.
Make sure your kids don’t miss out → myschools.nyc
In law school, we organized a symposium commemorating Stonewall at 25, brought LGBTQ+ leaders to campus, and published pieces on LGBTQ+ rights. As a mom, I brought my kids to visit the Stonewall Inn to learn about the history of civil rights that started there. Nice to see the flag flying proudly.🏳️🌈
Today, @NYCMayor took a selfie with us (@LosDeliveristas), @TransAlt, @OpenPlans, + many more transportation advocate partners after committing to new bus lanes and bike lanes for workers and communities like us — the people who keep this city moving.
Thank you, @NYCMayor! 🚌🚲
Delivery workers keep our city running, rain or shine. I’m grateful for all they do—and for the chance to meet with them and Deputy Mayor Julie Su as we work to protect their wages and tips.
Zohran Mamdani has hit the ground running, taking on junk fees and wage theft to make NYC more affordable. I recently spoke with his Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice (and fellow former Labor Secretary) Julie Su about these early wins and what to expect next.
"We don't just care how people who sit in C-suites are doing. We care about how those who clean C-suites are doing too."
NYC Deputy Mayor Julie Su explains why we must center working people in economic policy-making.
No Kings. ICE out. Not on our watch. Meeting government-sponsored violence and killings with massive peaceful protest. Celebrating the beauty of our communities as America the way we can and should be.
In contrast, the way hundreds of thousands of people from the most targeted cities—LA to Chicago, DC to Portland to Minneapolis—have refused to give this admin what it wants is astounding. People showing up, blowing whistles, singing, praying, holding hands, linking arms.
Resharing something I wrote last summer (link below), when the reign of terror of this federal admin was in full swing. Since then, I took my other kid to Death Valley in December. And the brutal attacks on immigrants have expanded dramatically and their violence has escalated.
As the federal administration’s brutality and racism continue to escalate, I joined Robert Reich to say: attacking immigrant workers doesn’t help American-born workers. Protecting vulnerable workers improves standards and safety for everyone no matter where they were born.
As the federal government shows brutality that knows no bounds, NYC says not on our watch.

Proud to celebrate the talented members of the @wgaeast.bsky.social and share the same commitment to growing the industry & union jobs.
We continued to get the word out about the sign-up window for 3-K and T-K. Childcare is infrastructure we have to invest in. In the Mamdani Administration, kids belong not only in free childcare where they can learn and thrive but also behind the podium at a press conference alongside the Mayor! 🎤
@mayor.nyc.gov and I also welcomed Los Deliveristas UNIDOS to City Hall and got to know the city’s business leaders.
First week of February. ❄️ It’s cold but it warms my heart to meet with and learn about the issues facing NYC’s workers—from union members who work on set 🎬 & behind the scenes 🎞️🎧 to those fighting for their first contract 💪🏾 like the @sesameworkersunion 🍪.
